According to Forbes, the Clippers are valued at $545 Million but would cost and estimated $700 Million to purchase. Considering Magic Johnson's business partner's, The Guggenheim Partners, are worth over $125 Billion and paid $2 Billion for the Dodgers 2 years ago, this shouldn't be an issue if they really do want to buy the team. Silver's just gotta force Sterling's hand, which shouldn't be hard if the fans and/or players boycott the team.

Would be great for the Clippers and the NBA, but terrible for Lakers imo.

If this happens,,,it will be a death blow to the Laker organization. Phil Jackson in New York and Magic in L.A.,,,both luring big time free agents to their teams while Fredo and his overrated puppet MK will be sitting there with their thumbs up their asses.

This would be very bad news for the West with the way Magic and his ownership group throw cash around. And as much fun as scoffing Laker fans is, it wouldn't matter that the Clippers would destroy Jimmy's Lakers as a marquee franchise, since all the annoying Laker fans would become Clipper fans.

Magic has made no secret that he has wanted to buy the Clippers for a long time. He has bought the LA WNBA team already.
Should he be jumping into the middle of this. How would it look......

middle of this part of his plan to get the team. He has bought the LA WNBA team already. Was this a set up?
did he buy them outright full control or its part of deal with the equity fund?

difference between equity fund ownership and some clown who parked his money into that fund where he has no say how they decide what to buy/sell in their port folio

If he wants the team he should not do it in the press. It just looks like he is piling on. He would probably
make a good owner but he should go easy.

+1,,,,exactly. Laker fans are notorious for bringing up amount of les when losing an argument and have to try and save face,,, and that is 98% of the time. If they jump on the Clipper bandwagon,,,,they are stuck with a piss poor franchise history.

The Clippers won 13 les back when they were in Boston. If Laker fan can claim Minneapolis' les, why wouldn't Laker/Clipper fan count those?

The bucks and kings got sold for 550 million no way in help the clips get less than 1 billion

Wouldn't surprise me to see them go for $1.5B after the Dodgers got sold for $2B.

Clippers is easily worth $1.5 billion. LA remains a basketball city and with the Clippers amassing great talent and seems to be the preferred choice for Free Agents, it's becoming L.A.'s favorite team. Clippers beats the Lakers for the past 2 years in home attendance, so that's proof enough they're fast becoming the "it" team in LA.

Once Kobe retires, expect a good chunk of them to bandwagon the Clippers while the die hard Lakers painfully experience a long rebuilding process.

"My understanding, as I can best remember, is that the current Celtics team is a successor to the Buffalo Braves," Russ Granik, former deputy commissioner of the N.B.A. , said in a telephone conversation on Thursday.
