It bothers me that he tried to do SO MUCH with the ball every time he got it on the Spurs but on the Mavs he's more than content to let the game come to him and be a complementary player off the bench.

If he had played like that for us, he would never have been booted from the Spurs.

He knows he has to either hedge or sink back. He doesn't have the quickness to do a soft hedge. So that leaves his man open unless the other big rotates fast enough. Against Ellis, this needs to be the strategy. It shouldn't be when anyone besides Ellis runs the PnR.

Honestly when did Monta Ellis get this good? I dont ever remember him playing this well or unless its just this series

He's been this good since about 2009. In 09-10, he averaged 25.5 points, 5.3 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game for the Warriors. He was the best player on that team. When we drew the Mavs for round 1, he was my biggest concern. When the Mavs initially signed him, I thought they were a piece (defensive center) away from being legit contenders. So no I'm not surprised, and I guess you just failed to notice him before.
