I know that thread, too. I'm not saying that you ed then and I admired your reasonableness then; for that reason, I guess I just don't really get your reaction to this. You're certainly en led to your opinion, but your anger at this seems odd.

At some point RC had to win this award, particularly given where the Spurs were in the spring of 2009, the spring of 2010, and the spring of 2011.

To have rebuilt that team, which seemed clearly on its last legs and long past the window for legitimate le contention, into the group that plays for the Spurs now is an incredible feat. It surely can't diminish the accomplishment that the moves that facilitated yet another remaking of the Spurs came slowly and without much fanfare. And at some point, that accomplishment and the nearly two decades of effort that have preceded it simply has to be rewarded if the award itself is to mean anything.
That's what I was alluding to in my original response to Jmark (the "projected" comments) in addition to my last explanation on what should be valued. Sometimes keeping guys (Manu/Tiago) and adding the right glue guys, plus having prior moves pay dividends (Kawhi) didn't just happen in one year but should still count in a year where you had the best record in the NBA despite massive injuries and resting guys (aka COY award as well).

I think Suns fans in general are just sick of the Spurs taking things from us.

Outside of signing the best player in the league, a team is not built in a year.

What was most impressive to me was the Dragic signing. I laughed at the Suns early in the year for targeting, paying and then hyping him to the extent they did. It is a clear sign that the Suns were ahead of the curve. Fleecing the Lakers was a nice touch.

The 5-5 finish outside the playoffs is the 500 lbs gorilla in the room. They have much to be commended for but people are not going to reward failure.

It's bull . The point is to be compe ive. He maximized every trade, and save for injury, conference affiliation, or playoff alignment, he'd have taken a bottom-5 team to top-11 in one offseason, while actually building a future, not sacrificing it. He constructed a team that finished 14 seeds better than the direct season prior. Not 14 wins. Seeds.

    It's incredible.
don't get me wrong, you've got an argument there

Congrats R.C. Well deserved and long overdue.

It's kind of funny he'd win it this year though when he didn't really do anything (i.e. failed to execute any notable trades / sign any notable free agents from the buyout market)
Is it funny? Sometimes the wisest move is to do nothing. Too many people, maybe not you, even though your laugh implies otherwise, confuse movement with action.

And stumbled into 48 wins despite significant injury?

    Don't be a head-in-the-sand RC .

It's a stolen, bull honor at the expense of the rightful rookie winner. Execs voted, sent a message. I'll send one, too.

    Go simultaneously skull yourselves.
I guess one gets pissed when all you have to root for is GM awards for the next 20 years

The guy that put the Nets toghether deserved it this year, tbh.
How does trading for bad contracts and signing players for money under the table equal GMOY?

You can bluster all you like but not even your fellow Suns fans have your back. You are all alone here on this one.

That and RC still won on the decision of his peers. How does our taste, loser?

Blinders? It is obvious that you are now in damage control and tying to pass on your saltiness as trolling. What you are doing here is cliche as is what I am. You have taken to the salty role admirably now that you have completely given up on the point you started out with. I'll keep giving you the rope to hang yourself with.
