There's certain guys I wish I could ignore (MannyIsGod, pego, hemann, etc.), but they're re ed enough that they provide some good unintentional humor. The other guys I listed are just predictably annoying.

Yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb and say he probably doesn't practice medicine. But Sook made it into med school, so there's really no telling anymore.

Its not that hard to become a doctor, you just have to be book smart.

Not really about book smarts...it has more to do with discipline than anything else. I say this as an engineer who has multiple friends who went to med school. Engineering is more about book smarts than premed. But I don't think I had the discipline to ever do medicine.

.... I was of the top 5 students in my major but I'm sure my posts on here would never give someone that impression. No reason to even have to justify it but fun fact I guess.

The thought of some of my classmates treating people scares me though, some of the people in med school deff. shouldn't be there.

Imagine for a sec that Kool is the POTUS and I'm about to address the ST community in a State of The Union speech. Basically it would go like this as I take the podium.

"All you ho's sitting before me can suck my big black and die." But swallow first ok.

and to ElNono I know more about basketball than your mom knows about douching. Tbh

yeah, it's all about the MCAT and extra-curricular stuff. Being a Biology major and not making any B's helps too.

Your spot on, but to get into med school you have to be book smart. The MCAT is a good weed out when it comes to that. So many of the people I knew dropped out because they memorized and didnt conceptualize even though they maintained very high GPAs. Would never take the MCAT again, and that's coming from someone with a top score.

Actually its the URM groups. Not trying to be mean, but if you're black or Hispanic it is way easier to get in. JAMP also doesn't make any sense to me, where if you are underprivileged you have a much higher chance as well.

Yes, you have to be book smart, but not at the level most people think. You can't be re ed and get in, but it has more to do with being disciplined than book smart.

Being a Biology major or BioChem is not "easy," especially when you consider that to get into med school you have to make mostly A's. But that's where being disciplined comes in. It's about putting in the hours - something they'll have to be prepared for when they get to med school, where it's all about grinding.

HOWEVA, being able to use differential equations to do structural analysis (Civil Engineering) is a different type of "book smarts" than studying for biology tests and not missing any hw assignments. Few people will ever be able to do high level structural analysis, no matter how much they study. But I respect the hours med students put in to get through med school. Few people have that kind of discipline.

Yeah, that's why it helps big-time to have a list of impressive extracurriculars (if you're white).

Oh yea fersure. I was a Biomedical Engineering major and my research in undergrad consisted of mathematical modeling of the close loop cardiovascular system. It was my project and I had some pre-med interns at the time, but no matter how many times I explained the project or some specific task to them... they never got it, either because they didn't care or maybe just weren't able to comprehend it. My junior year was around the time where I realized I didn't want to go into engineering and wanted to goto med. school instead even though I would have been able to start of at ~70K easily. Its not just me , there are a couple of mechanical and chemical engineers too, but yea I see your point about it being more abstract in a certain sense.

The extracurricular part is overblown. Its pretty much a requirement to where if you don't they'll be su ious as to why you never did anything outside of school, but at the end of the day its GPA + MCAT.

It was brutal man, I genuinely hated medical school. A big part of why I love this board is I deal with pussified liberal gots all day long and this board alleviates the harsh reality of the goty ass world I live in. We have meetings about supporting minorities and hiring doctors of all races and sexual preferences.

They're teaching us its even ok to hire tranny doctors now and understand that they arent sick people but people who have a lot of love in their hearts...da fak?

I mean, I avoid those threads altogether--Let me quantify: I will read the posts of the threads I enter no matter who puts them there. Now, if it turns into the whole lame Emoticon vs Blake/Chump thing then I don't bother. I mean anyone that makes an attempt to say something worthwhile I'll read. Even if I don't really care for the person.
that's the thing. These guys don't really say anything worthwhile or interesting. The one poster I take back is Chump. I don't just ignore every post but if I see it turning into a Chump vs _____ back and forth fest for multiple pages I'll stop reading

Exactly, most pre-med undergrads are just type A compe ive ass people who work out every day as well and have a strict schedule.

Upper level math is just a whole different ballgame. Not saying it's easier or harder. Some math tests I've had to study for a maximum of 2 hours to get an A on it but it would take me 7-8 hours to learn one sort of concept. Not really the case in Biology. For the most part it's just about putting in a ton of hours.

Can't remember if you're a civil/structural engineer but the first time I learned the beam deflection equation in Solids, it took me roughly 7 hours to do 2 HW problems. Easy as in hindsight but I'll never forget det one.

Kool is an internet character. Never understood why people try to go at him seriously or actually get annoyed by him. Wont read his long posts but some of the shorter ones make me lol from time to time tbh.

The only posters I dont care for are the ones that try too hard and end up regurgitating every ST shtick/sucking off established posters. Clipper Nation comes to mind.
