Congrats to Mike Sherman for having 3 of his former players drafted in the first round. It's obvious he knew talent when he saw it. Congrats to Sumlin for developing that talent. Now it remains to be seen if he can duplicate this with kids he recruited.

yes i meant current teams. i've completely forgot about a&m until they show up out of the woodwork.
I don't think the other BIG Xii teams were really ever invited to join the network, were they?

they certainly didn't do much at the bargaining table. i'm sure they could have shown more muscle than whining and threatening to leave the conference.

Uh, are you referring to A&M? I'd say their decision not to accept a 20-80 split of the LHN has worked out incredibly well for them. A&M had more players (3) drafted in the first round than the entire Big 12 (2). We're extremely happy with how things have worked out so far.
Where are you getting this 20-80 split from? I doubt that's based on anything credible. But who's really to say it wouldn't have worked out well for Aggie if they are part of the network but still in the SEC with Sumlin and co (assuming the SEC allowed them to keep the network affiliation)?

I don't think they were ever invited -- I'm sure they would have loved to be part of an all Texas (state, not University) Network.

I remember hearing something around that figure (I don't recall the exact split, but I remember it was very unequal, along those lines). Maybe it would have worked out 'well' for A&M to take a place at the table for leftovers - but I think things are much better as they are. And we likely wouldn't be in the SEC if we agreed to that; our opposition to the LHN (including its broadcasting high school recruits' games, etc.) was one of the driving factors in our leaving the Big 12.

Except you have nothing to show for having the greatest Aggie ever except meager bowl wins over a big 12 team and Duke.

Yes, the immediate results these past 2 years are all we should use to evaluate the decision. Fantastic top-10 recruiting classes won't accomplish anything in the future. The $400-some-odd-million renovation to our stadium doesn't matter. Popularity exceeding every other school in the state won't make any long-term difference (especially among kids / eventual recruits). It wouldn't surprise me if you were one of the horde predicting A&M would get humiliated in its inaugural SEC season - and even then we acknowledged the possibility, but were looking to the long-term benefit. Now that we've already had some short-term success (especially compared to what many -including you- were predicting), and the future looks very promising for A&M, you want to focus on A&M winning 'only' 11 games that first season, winning 'only' the last two bowl games. You've always been and will always be a twit Blake. There's no point arguing with you.

    Things worked out well forATM.

They have excitement, the dollars donors are s ing out. But as far as winning. It got a whole lot tougher.
They were not exactly dominating the Big 12 either so all in all it worked out well.

I just wished we could play them. It's pure stupidity not having a game that draws so much interest.

You remember hearing? Yeah, probably from someone on an internet chat room as equally uninformed as you are -- not exactly confidence inspiring as far the credibility of that assertion goes. I imagine the real number was probably much more equitable even considering UT's considerably stronger market value.

According to everything I read was Deloss Dodds had the idea about a network and got a feasibility study on the costs of developing one, he approached Dollar-Bill about going in 50/50 on costs and profits. A&M didn't think it would workout because of not enough programming, they were for starting a Big 12 network. When Texas announced it's partnership with ESPN and the dollars that were going to be involved, A&M wanted in but by then it was too late. That started the downward slop that resulted in the Aggsy moving to the SEC.

The network is now on the brink of becoming very profitable to both ESPN and the Longhorns and the Aggsy are about to be part of what looks like a very profitable SEC network. All is well, that ends well, except we no longer have a game with the ags and likely never will again. The bad blood between these two schools is at an all-time high, not only between alumni but also leadership has gotten into the fight.

I have a very good aggsy buddy who actually played for Jackie back in the late 80's. He is a director at a huge construction company and when he is hiring engineers or management the first thing he does is pull all the aps that list Texas and discards them. He refuses to work with a Longhorn in any way shape or form.

No reason to think that money wouldn't have come in if they stayed in the big xii and made it to a national championship game.

But still unequal. I certainly understand how you and other horns might justify it, but A&M wouldn't accept perennial status as 2nd rate - nor should they have, as events have shown.

Didn't you watch their come-from-behind victory over perennial power Duke in the Chicken Sandwich Bowl? Almost as good as a Rose Bowl victory.

Oklahoma State offered QB Quinten Dormady. It's worth mentioning they already have a three-star (0.8969 composite) QB, John Kolar, committed to them.

not sure how 247 can list him as a pro style QB with a straight face, he is running the spread option and 1/3 of his highlights are passing 1/3 designed runs and 1/3 him taking off.
