    Way back in 1961 they drafted 1960 Olympic 200m sprinter/world record holder Stone Johnson out of Grambling, he was a running back. Due to an injury in a preseason game.....he died. Then here came Ken Thomas a monster cornerback out of San Jose State, a blocky cat about as wide as he was tall, he was also a great sprinter 10.0m. He'd injure a knee so badly (back then a knee injury was pretty much it) it cost him his career.

    Running back Joe Delaney (9.4) ran on the same NCAA 4x1 team with NFLers to be Mark Duper and Victor Oatis, they won the NCAA. Delaney had over a 1000 yards as a rookie then .....he'd drown trying to save some kids.

    Wide receivers Sammie Parker was a 10.17 guy while at Oregon, LSU's Eddie Kennison was an "NFL Fastest Man" winner.

    Jamaal Charles was a legit national caliber sprinter while at Texas, a 10.18 guy and the leagues fastest running back. Now add Oregons DeAnthony Thomas a 10.4 guy but runs faster than that on a football field. The tantum of Charles and Thomas as fast as it's ever been in the NFL.

    While not known as a college sprinter the first great Chief player was a North Texas State running back named Abner Haynes, he was a multi purpose cat who did it all, a speedster!

    While that's pretty impressive when it comes to speedy players, it's the Raiders who could put together a track team superior to most countries.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If everyone plays has they have the Niners could have the best stable of running backs in the league in...
    Frank Gore Miami
    Marcus Lattimore South Carolina
    Carlos Hyde Ohio State
    Kendall Hunter Oklahoma State
    LaMichael James Oregon.....get this guy out in space!
    The Bengals also had some speed. Their first 1000 yard rusher was a 400 hurdler out of Arizona named Paul Robinson. They had NCAA 100yard runner up Isacc Curtis a 9.3 wide receiver out of Cal. , they even drafted the great San Jose State sprinter Tommie Smith, too bad he wasn't a footballer. They also drafed LSU Olympic 400 hurdler Bennie Brazell, he was no football player.
    Tell me again about my Chargers and their speed.
    No problem slick.
    Paul Lowe you're first 1000 yard rusher was an Oregon State hurdler. You had Leslie"Speedy" Duncan out of Jackson State. The great Lance Alworth (Arkansas) was a sprinter in high school. Willie McGee was a world record 9.1 guy out of Alcorn, then there was Tennessee's Anthony Miller a 10.2 ish guy, both were wide receivers.
    So tell me Avante what about those Rams and their pioneering ways.
    Ok little man.
    The Los Angeles Rams were the first team to draft a black player when they picked UCLA running back Kenny Washington, (he was there with Jackie Robinson). They were the first to draft a player out of Grambling in running back Paul "Tank" Younger. They were the first to draft an NCAA 100 champ in wide receiver Bob Boyd out of Loyola. They were the first to take a player out of tiny UOP in running back Bass, and now the first to pick a known sucker in Michael Sam.
    Hey Avante, talk to me about Lance Alworth.
    Alworth was the best receiver in all of football in his day, he was a converted Arkansas running back. He would have done the same things in the NFL, he was that special. He had it all, the total package. The first AFL played inducteed into the HOF.
    CN too stupid to figure this out, hahaha!
    So what would the all time Chargers back field/receivers look like?
    Here ya go small fry.
    QB...Dan Fouts Oregon
    RB...LaDainian Tomlinson TCU
    RB...Paul Lowe Oregon State
    WR...Lance Alworth Arkansas
    WR...Charlie Joiner Grambling
    TE....Kellon Winslow Missouri (Anthony Gates?)
    Hey Avante how about ie Post?
    Good one little man.
    Post was more quick/agile than fast, he was a "get out of trouble" runner. He had a burst and a ton of wiggle. He once led the AFC in rushing. Probably the quickest of the white running backs. McElhenny was more about speed.
    CN, I have a couple hours to kill, don't let me down little guy, ok?
