It is a good vibe with this team. They seem really to be focused and enjoying the ride. When they get loose they really show a scary good offense. Except Manu. He is loose enough. He needs to keep focused. Sometimes the game seems to be going too slow for him ( and maybe Boris) as it is. Just hit your shots Manu, and keep being the meanest MF on the court.

The thing that makes it tough to evaluate are the wild swings. Basketball already has a ton of ups and downs, but with the Spurs it's wild. They win by 20, lose by 20. They go from looking in a groove to looking old and like they have never played together before.

Teams like OKC struggle too, but they have a lot more close games. Spurs get blown out and don't care.

I am not a big fan of the 'flip the switch' mentality, but it really looks like game 4 was a game they allowed to get away pretty easily. Portland played well, but Pop seemed to be trying a few wild ideas out on that athletic team also. They were much more focused tonight.

Agree... yet, even through that inconsistency, they've managed to to consistently get to this top 4 level the past 3 seasons...

You know as well as anybody how difficult is to get this far. As Mugen pointed out, this looked like a relatively distant place 4-5 years ago.

Truly a tribute to everyone involved.

Kawhi Leonard has never played an NBA season that ended before the conference finals.
    Hadn't thought about that.

It's going to take a decade for the Blazers team to rack up the playoff experience Kawhi already has at age 22.

Kawhi is above the likes of Curry, Irving, Lillard, Paul, Griffin, in this department... gives you perspective

and he has been pretty essential to that achievement.

It's fun and cool to see him progress with the Spurs tbh he has been playing amazingly well in the POs

RC earning his award after it was given.

But seriously, the EoY award should be given out after the playoffs.

Indeed. Who would have guessed that one player could drag a team so far down? It really looked like the team should have been blown up in 2011 when he the bed again and everyone looked old.

Yeah, I don't think there's any question that Kawhi's arrival and blossoming, particularly after the Jefferson deal, are a substantial reason that the Spurs have now played into June for three straight seasons. No Kawhi and this team is likely struggling to get through Round 1 and maxing out in the conference semifinals.

Now we get to see how much difference there is between 3rd year Kawhi and rookie Kawhi, as the next opponent is someone the Spurs played 2 years ago.

That's a great achievement indeed for a team whose core players seem to be in the waning years of their respective careers for a good five or so years now.

Among many other things, it's also a testament to Pop's ability to adapt and change his formula, something quite a lot of people seem to think him not being capable of doing. The days of "lockdown defense and throwing into the post to Duncan" are gone, and the current edition of the Spurs is much more offense oriented (with Parker and no longer Duncan as the focal point), yet still able (at least in the last two seasons) to be a decent to good defensive unit.

Another trinket: out of the 13 active roster players, only Baynes, Belinelli, and Ayres weren't on that 2012 WCF roster.

Chance for the entire group to gain vindication.

For the Spurs to contend in 2014 when I thought they were done in 2010 is pretty amazing. It's a pleasure to watch these guys all these years, tbh.
