China Is Preparing For "Short And Sharp" War With Japan Over Disputed East China Sea Islands: US Officer

China’s military has been beefing up training as the country continues keeping an unwavering stance on various territory disputes with its neighbors. In particular, according to a U.S. naval officer China has been preparing for possible military action over the ongoing dispute with Japan over a small cluster of islands in the East China Sea, and the more recent air-defense zone dispute.

According to a report by the United States Naval Ins ution, part of China’s Mission Action 2013 exercise, a military drill that includes all branches of the country’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), included preparation for combat to take over the Senkaku/ Diaoyu Islands, Capt. James Fannell, deputy chief of staff intelligence and information operations for the U.S. Pacific Fleet, said.

“We witnessed the massive amphibious and cross military region enterprise -- Mission Action 2013,” Fannell said during a conference last week in San Diego, Calif. “[We] concluded that the PLA has been given the new task to be able to conduct a short sharp war to destroy Japanese forces in the East China Sea following with what can only be expected a seizure of the Senkakus or even a southern Ryukyu [islands] – as some of their academics say.”

Formally Chinese Island, no? Why not. Eventually the USA will crumble too and neighbors will snatch up their former land.

China is increasingly dedparate for energy sources (coal, oil) and is ready to grab whatever it can.

As I've predicted for years, BigCarbon is loving China going into resource war mode.

Will push the price of oil sky high.

BigOil will get Congress to fast track LNG exporting and crude oil exporting, forcing US buyers to pay the same price for US-sourced oil,gas as Asia pays.

But increasing taxes on fuel to pay for battery, other fuel research? no. Let the "free war market" set the prices, so all $Ts go to BigOil, none to taxes.

Subsidize energy efficiency? Repugs block it.

btw, what with Repugs try to extort in return for funding the National Highway fund?

They already refuse to increase the trivial, 20-year-old gas tax, preferring to drain the general fund into the highway fund.

Protect BigOil (keep fed gas tax trivial, non-disuasive), NEVER raise any fed, state, local tax (unless extorting some extremely nasty policy), starve the beast.

crazy how we always fall back on killing each other as a means of resolving conflict. i won't even care if we wipe each other off the face of the earth. maybe we deserve it.

China's military capabilities are growing, but they are overrated as of now. Japan has more advanced capabilities, not to mention the backing of the US. If China does attack, which is HIGHLY doubtful, it might just receive a short and sharp ass whooping.

I don't care what the treaties say, Obama will let the Chinese do what they want. No way he gives the Pacific Fleet the green light to interfere.

The Chinese military believes that the US is on the road to decline; long story short, they don't have the same belief in the healing waters of racial diversity that we do, compounded with the typical long term problems of an empire. They're patient, but signaling.

China isnt gonna start lil homie. The Chinese have far more to lose than gain from such an incursion. Japan isnt like the Ukraine or Afghanistan or Iraq or Georgia. They have an excellent capacity for self defense and possess tremendous political and economical clout. They cant and wont be bullied.

Beijing's relatively new management is simply flexing its muscles while dangling the proverbial carrot for their army of PLA drones. It is a clever trick the Nazis perfected and used to great effectiveness.

China's exports to japan, usa, and elsewhere are too damn big for china to risk trade blockades by the export countries.

theres a reason why they only provoking vietnam and not the other countries, cause vietnam has no treaty pack with anyone besides russia, russia is also not on good terms with china....

china has also been pushing its money into neighboring counrtries buying votes and , laos and cambodia puppet states of vietnam who they help liberated them from french got rule and chinese backed militia idiots like Pol Pot...they are standing up to the vietnamese not wanting to be puppet states due to the unfound wealth the chinese is investing into those 2 countries...

trade sanctions on china dont do , when they make just as much from collecting that debt check from u guys..if the chinese population wants to be liberated from the communist rule, this is the perfect time to stand up and overthrow the one party govt, same apply to vietnam and its commie party govt...most of the idiots protestesting and are probably idiots born after the VN war brainwashed into the lies and communists idealogy
