Pop and big 3 legacies are intact, regardless of outcome.
If he loses to a horrible coach like Scott Brooks,,,,again and they don't even have Ibaka or home court advantage,,,,that's just another point that Popovich is the most overrated coach in NBA history. It would be the icing on the cake if Brooks beats him in his 3rd COTY award. Pop has got swept by Alvin Gentry, beat by Lionel Hollins/Memphis as an 8th seed, back door swept by Scott Brooks, outcoached by Avery in 05-06, abused time and time again by Phil Jackson.
Pop and big 3 legacies are intact, regardless of outcome.
Yep, lose this series and it's back to bagging groceries at HEB.
And now that I think about it,,,,wasn't it Scott Brooks that took Popovich out in 2012 when Popovich won his 2nd COTY? No way Popovich can lose to that horrible coach again in his 3rd COTY award with home court advantage and Ibaka out. No way,,,,right?
Phil Jackson got bukkaked in his last year as a coach... is his legacy ruined? Please donīt make dumb threads anymore.
You're a ing lunatic.
Here we go again.. Moronic
i'm a newer spurs fan, so i'm biased.
to me, this is probably the biggest series of Pop's career.
not in the sense his legacy is on the line - his legacy is a done deal, it's old news at this point. but this is the one that can really stamp a seal on best team in the nba.
less so with abaka being out....sigh. hate that injury .
Please. C'mon, kid,,,Phil Jackson has 3 peated,,,3 times. Pop could never go back to back with the best power forward of all time. Pop's brilliant move is sitting the best power forward of all time with a 5 point lead and 28 seconds to go in 2013 game 6 against the Heat and losing,,,,what a coach.
3 peated 3 times and got bukkaked what kind of ending is that? his legacy is ruined he was sweeped and then bukkakedin the locker rooms.
People makes mistakes, he did more good than bad.
I don't mind the criticism of Pop, the players or whatever, but at least man up and change your "My Team" entry to the team you REALLY support.
No one in the NBA will hire Pop again if he loses this series against a team with the reigning MVP. Regardless if he has the most les of every current NBA coach.
Legacies are never on the line for basketball outcomes. Once you're there you're there. Phil was swept out of the playoffs by the Mavericks and yet his legacy is doing just fine.
I agree. There's no reason the Spurs shouldn't win this series. No Ibaka and they have more offensive weapons than the Thunder.
Pretty sure his "momma' thinks he's a pea brain as well...
I have not always agreed with the moves Pop has made especially in '06 with the small ball crap but I would say his legacy is safe. Comparing any coach to Phil Jackson is a mistake considering nobody stacks up to him outside of Red who is dead. Look at Riley he had a lot of embarrassing moments during his time coaching the Heat outside of '06 but despite all the embarrassment his legacy was never tarnished since he was already established when he got there. Pop is established so nothing will change win or lose this series.
Can you imagine Pop as a bagger at HEB? He'd have this wonderful system for bagging your groceries but you'd occasionally end up with squashed bread to which he would say it was the cashiers fault but for the most part you wouldn't even question him when he puts the eggs next to a bunch of can goods and if you ever did he'd just stare at you blankly as if you were the biggest idiot in the store.
Pop legacy can only go up the man still bringing his team to the finals years on top of years past Ginobili and Duncans prime. come on
And yo commas.
Disagree. Booting Van Gundy to take credit for his achievements cemented Riley in the pantheon of -bites he'd always threatened to belong to.
I think the OP may be onto something here,,,,,,,,,,,,,
