Not mj's fault dude threw his face on his elbow tbh
By that logic, just about every notable player in NBA history is "practically a God" because a large percentage of NBA discussions focus on the past, old players or comparisons to old players
Lots of people blinded by the DK marketing campaign ITT....
DK was also an underrated flopper back in the day:
It doesnt matter, his greatness is sealed. #1 best player and arguably GOAT in sports next to Ali. I actually hate that POS, but he sealed the deal by going undefeated in the finals and in DOMINANT fashion. You cant surpass him without staying undefeated in the finals, something I realized the moment Kobe lost in 04 in the finals and of course Lebronze in 07,11
Russell's 8 straight championships and 9 in 10 years should make him the GOAT by that logic![]()
the russell argument is only marginally less re ed than the horry argument considering the size of the league and the amount of HOF teammates he had. the celtics in the 60's were like playing nba2k and using an all pro team tbh
Well, if we're going to ignore all context by, for example, holding losing in the 2007 Finals against LeBron even though he dragged an atrocious Cleveland team there all by himself, then we can ignore the context of the NBA being a joke in Russell's era too.... by Jordan Jocker logic, 8 straight les > 6-0 in the Finals, so Russell > DK....
LeBron's two Finals losses are still a lot better than Dad Killer's two first-round losses, since LeBron at least made the Finals those years and has never lost in the first round![]()
i don't disagree... but the russell argument is a joke and you know it. i don't see why it was funny enough to warrant an emoticon though
The argument that Dad Killer being undefeated in the Finals means he can never be surpassed as GOAT is the real joke.... it implies that losing earlier in the playoffs is somehow better than losing in the Finals, and it also implies that DK never had any playoff failures like every other star player has had, when neither of those are true....
Stern & Jordan
The Warden & Andy Dufrain![]()
i definitely see where you are coming from. people only count finals losses, which by nature of getting to the finals are more impressive than early round losses. however, i also think people point to lebron's balls shriveling in the finals (best example being 2011, and lets be honest, a good portion of 2013, although he was godly from minutes 36-47 in game 6 and the entirety of game 7) after dominating early rounds. its that he wasn't at his best in the biggest moments. there's no way you can tell me you can't see that side of the coin. for lebron to on opponents like chicago and boston in 2011 but then do nothing in the finals, its something that you can't really forget.
so Jordan isn't really DK and was setup?
Stern changed rules to get the next Jordan. Check which year tmac Kobe iverson and stackhouse all suddenly got a huge jump in ppg and what rules were changed that year.
Jordan definitely got calls, he actually popularized the concept of superstar calls (magic and bird preceded him, but Jordan made it an obvious every fan term.), but compared to today's perimeter players, Jordan got hacked. In today's leagues, Jordan would've averaged 15 to 17 FTa a game, easy.
Yes, which lead to his two months / years "in the hole" away from basketball to think about his gambling problems threatening the NBAs image.
Lol at LeBron's finals losses being counted as more.
It wasn't that Lebron lost, it was how his teams lost. He stunk in those series against the spurs and the Mavs.
Jordan didn't have any series in which he stunk and his team lost.
1990-91: Stern made the penalties for flagrant fouls harsher in an attempt to deter physical play and neuter the Bad Boys because Dad Killer whined and complained about them (mainly because he was Detroit's back then)
1993-94: Stern bans handchecking in order to make it easier for Dad Killer once his gambling suspension expired
at referencing a rule "attempting to deter physical play" in an attempt to prop up a player in today's game which is the most pussified version of the nba to date
Yes, remember that well. The fix was in.
You can thank Dad Killer's constant whining and complaining for today's so-called "pussified" league.... granted, I disagree that the league is "pussified," it's just changed from hard fouls being passed off as defense to actual defensive systems and intelligent team defense becoming the norm....
No no the league IS really pussified
thanks to DK
And yet the two added together doesn't have half the effect of defensive 3 seconds rule. What players had huge jumps in ppg in the two seasons you mentioned?
