With the exception of the "public" part I thnk it already is.



I have been in some really dodgy places in my life but I have to say Duabi is the worst I've seen - I'm talking about regular bars. God forbid you actually walk into a hookers bar. They are the most agressive bunch I've seen. There is nothing short of knocking them out that will stop them from climbing all over you - and even in that case another would just step in.

It's a trick we have played on most of our new colleagues on their first trip to Dubai and it usually scares the out of them - specially the part where we have to exit the place in a real hurry when it becomes clear we have no intentions of purchasing any of their services.


P.S. you on the whole EE herpes thing. Non pros definitely don't have that problem. Pros on the other hand...
But that's hardly an EE specific problem.

P.P.S. Our company just finished a project in Kabul - luckily I was not required on site.

tbh in my first few weeks here there was a rash (no pun intended) of EE herpes complaints so it really took me by surprise.

Kabul's gotta be nicer than Kandahar tbh...it's starting to get oppressively hot here. Never drank so many bottles of H2O/day in my entire life. Not even during high school FB 2-a-days in Miami

and yeah...the hookers in Dubai are like the trading floor of the NYSE when the bell rings

If I had an opportunity and the balls to climb the highest point of a tall 100-floor skyscraper, I'd take pictures of the view below and not of myself. But hey these people climbed these buildings so they deserve some right to take self-shots.

PS: The guys who climbed the Shanghai Tower are still better.

Damn, some of those really are ballsy tho. Standing right on the edge or with a foot hanging down is crazy. I feel uncomfortable just thinking about doing that so no way could I pull that off tbh.

Eventually they are going to return to their lives and not be changed one bit by a fleeting moment of fake bull . Is taking a selfie going to bring back a dead relative? Give them eternal wisdom? A raise? Nope, just a lot of heart pounding and a chance to tell a story to their friends who either don't really care/ or will soon forget about it and return to their normal lives not ever giving it a second thought.

My BiL who's a retired Army doctor said he gets guys all the time who tell him they were ex SFG or Delta, and he laughs because no one ever lies about being the doctor who treated the most herpes complaints in Korea.

Funny thing is, Dubai is not an oil producing emirate. They only possess about 5% of all the oil reserves in the UAE. Most (90%) of the oil is down the road in the Abu Dhabi emirate. The UAE is run like a corporation, with Emirs making up the board, and I can promise you that the Abu Dhabi emir (who is the head of the board and controls all those reserves) is not funding Dubai's growth out of his own pocket. That place was purpose built as a destination/resort/vacation spot, and all of the accoutrements have come from that.

While OPEC holds 80% of the world's reserves, they only represent 40% of the global crude production. And when you consider that Venezuela, Nigeria and Angola are OPEC members and produce almost 1/3 of OPEC's crude, it's a bit of a wive's tale that Arab sheiks are getting rich at the American pump. The U.S. government, through taxes, make more pure profit than the oil companies on a gallon of gas.
