You going to believe a troll or a decent intelligent poster, Avante?
My money says he won't go with the troll tbh.
I'm just following Xmas' lead, and you didn't get upset with him so I assumed it was ok by you.

He doesn't have to "believe" anyone, just go to the first page and you will find Xmas doing what he does, instigating a flame war.
Make me. weakling.
Exactly, the proof is there as to who attacked who first!
Or are you going to lie about that too?
Yeah, you should go back to your memorial photoshop thread that you so dearly love and where you belong.
Be seen and not heard.

lol arrogantly trying to speak for Avante again
Yeah, it's right there...avante started a thread, someone made a joke, then you swooped in and did what you do, de railed the thread into a flame war by complaining about others....it's ALL you do here.
He commented on the music, you didn't come here to do that or you would have.
Not a whole lot about music in that post eh?
Like I've said you follow me around like a little . Why try and act like you don't?
I posted 4 videos myself, what do you think of them?
Best read below, or live in your denial, mudbug.
The truth hurts them, but no matter how hard they try, they cannot change it.
They attacked as per usual, it's what we all know trolls do.
Sorry about your thread though, I would have chosen a different tact.
You tried to tell me to go away.
I directly challenged your ability to do so.
You did nothing about it.
Lol...except that your first post in this thread had nothing to do with music...Jesus you're dumb.
That's not about music either.
I was indifferent towards them...thanks for asking.
No, the le of your thread is "Impress Me".
I addressed your topic in post #2 of this thread, but you ignored it.
It's perplexing to track the roots of blues, so much influences into a genre.
It's really nice to have a decent intelligent poster on here with a coherent and apropos post.
What is tricky is to figure when jazz first started drifting into its own genre distinct from blues.
The blacks brought the rythmn and beat with them from Africa, then once on the plantations they put it to the realities of their world. The hard times , the social injustice, the violence. Field chants and hollers and gospel were the roots to what we'd hear later on record. Keep in mind there were no "recorded" blues until the 20th century, with Mamie Smith's "Crazy Blues" in 1920 considered the first blues tune, it's not but close.
In the very beginning it was female singers backed by bands, that went on from 1920-1924. In 1924 we started seeing the men finally getting into it. Papa Charley Jackson a banjo player from Louisiana, Daddy Stovepipe out of Alabama and Ed Andrewa a Georgia guitar player the first men to record. Sylvester Weaver recorded in 1923 (from Kentucky) but it was just a guitar solo and a piece with Sara Martin. In 1926 Texan Blind Lemon Jefferson showed up, he would become the first male "star" of them blues. but a notch below the great Bessie Smith. Jefferson a "country blues" artist, Smith more of a "classic" performer.
While the "Missisippi Delta" gets a lot of play the blues ddn't originate there. But, no state rivals Mississippi in the quality/quam y of notable blues singers that would come later.
Robert Johnsdon didn't record until 1936 and a lot of what he did was mimic the songs he'd heard, adding his own slant on things. He was a fantastic guitar player (freaky fingers) and had a tortured vocal sound. During his short lfe (dead ny 28) he was nothing special. It wasn't until decades later that his music was re-discovered and the rest is history.

Fascinating, really, the music from that era is so overlooked. I hardly know anything of the music, but it interests me - where would you recommend somebody to start if they wished to gain knowledge of the roots of the music?
Bill Wymans (yep, a Rolling Stone) "Blues Odyssey" book on the subject is as good as it gets. An amazing read full of pictures and maps and everything someone new to the music would need. I'm sure its at Amazon or some where out there.

...a listen, you'l get a great feel for the music there. That will take you up to around 1938.
The great Charley Patton you'd save for last, you'll see why.
Good stuff, Avante, I think I'll see into getting the book and music to listen.
What about the person who posted the video on youtube? Do you think they heard it?
