I like to talk about music, race, literature, religion, weight training, sprinting, yard sales, rasslin'. I outgrew...I can ...she has a pussy, YIPPEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!....long ago. No longer in awe of sex, it's just part of life, no big deal anymore, sure as a kid...she has a pussy, YIPPPEEEE!!!!!!! I don't care about the daily news, I read the paper, watch the news for that, I don't come here for that. I don't watch weekly tv shows other than RAW and Burn Notice and BN is now history.
So that's where I'm at on this forum. Why I need to talk sex. daily news, tv....??? I like to talk about things that interest me. And nobody has to join in those talks, if ya aren't into Sergio Olivia, Blind Lemon Jefferson, H.P.Lovecraft, Islam, Usian Bolt, making deals, CMPunk, black fathers bailing out on their families......then why enter threads talking about those things? Why not walk on by like I do 95% of the time. Very few threads here interest me that's why I start my own, do you see me in others threads (other than Kools) totally ignoring the topic just to wimper and whine? While bumping the thread up.
You all know my interests and by now it should be real obvious I'm going to do my thing, and won't be changing anything so why continue to play critic? And, those who criticize the most/loudest are the ones who don't do anything else.
Ignore me if a thread isn't for you. That works for me, and will work for you, honest!

How about instead of expecting the entire forum to put you on ignore, you just stop being an old got instead?
Have you ever seen me in a thread of yours? I simply don't find this interesting and it appears nobody else did either.

Yeah, nothing more got than talking music, books, weight training, yard sales, movies, sci fi. Should I just follow others around.."you're a got"...llke you do. Dude. why are you so damn negative about everytjhing? Do I really need to post all that negative, negative, negative bull of yours. You start posting threads and being cool and I won't post any threads at all.....deal?
speaking of...I finished the chapter on Skip James. Maybe the most interesting character so far. Checked out some of his music last night and he defiantly did have his own distinctive playing style. It was refreshing to hear.
Next chapter is led... hound on My Trail...yep...must be about Robert Johnson...
I can't believe somebody hasn't PMed Blake and ClipperNation with...
If not for dumb s like you constantly bumping him up Avante wouldn't be dominating this board. What is your problem asshole? You really can't find something else to do here? Everything he posts there you are, damn guy give it a ing rest, ok? And why don't you show him how it's done, he does have a good point, he's trying to talk while you do nothing but look stupid.
Stop being a cry baby asshole, and yes he owns you.
As you learned Skip James really wasn't a Delta playrer, he was from Brntonisa wehich isn't in that region.
He was unique in that he played both the gee-tar and te piano, now add his eerie vocals. His "Devil Got My Woman" one of the two/three best examples of pewar country blues, and I'm not just talking Mississippi.
Robert Johnson story would have to have been made up if it weren't true. He would be on Mount Bluesmore for sure.
Avante, you realize you've started well over 300 threads?
Here's the deal...
I couldn't care less what anyone does (other than stupid sex threads that give the boasrd a little dumb kid look) until they mess with me. If ya want to play critic then you'd better be pulling your weight, do come on here telling me ting if you yourself arte just a lwlu leg humping leech. You have no right to be a critic.
I don't care if you started a 1000 threads, why would anyone care? I/we don't have to read them do I/we?
Skip James is widely considered part of the Delta Blues. You yourself have acknowledged that the the term, "Delta" covers all of Mississippi when applying it to the musical style. Although if you were to ask Skip, he would most certainly disassociate him self with any particular style. Instead, he'd want to be recognized as creating his own individual style.
Of course Robert Johnson while the most famous subject of the Crossroads fable was certainly not the original purveyor. I believe Tommy Johnson is the first blues man that can be credited with any certainty of telling the story.
Well if we are talking about CD's all of Mississippi is the Delta. It doesn't matter where a guy was actually from, he's a Delta bluesman. But when it comes to books they do talk about the hill country, Avalon, Bentonia bluesmen. The author not wanting to pass off all Mississippi blue singers as coming out of the Delta. Mississippi John Hurt, Papa Harvey Hull, Skip James, Jack Owens a good example of Miss blues cats not out of the Delta.
There is the Mississippi Delta then we do have the Delta, which is from Memphis in the north down to Vicksburg in the south. Memphis having a ton of blues cats, a lot of them born in Miss.
Tommy Johnson first told that "sold my soul to the Devil (actually Legba a Hatian deity) story in the late 20's, St. Louis piano player (hahaha!) Peetie Wheatstraw also told the dtory around 1931 (ne did play a little guitar also) Then here came Robert.

I certainly haven't read as many books as you have but Gioia's book is called "Delta Blues" and he devotes a full chapter to James. I think most would place him firmly in the Delta Blues idiom.
This is out of...The Big Book of Blues...by Robert Santelli who is considered one of the most knowledgable of all blues historians. He starts at A with bios about any bluesmsan of note finishing with...ZZ Top.
"Skip James was the foremost prac ioner of the so-valled Bentonia school of blues" now I can find something similiar to that in a number of other books, he wasn't considered a Delta player by those in the know. Yes ya can toss him in with the Delta players, like many who sell CD's have.
Living rent-free, tbh....
Let me see if I have this straight.
You don't like me, you hate my threads, you think I'm an old, fat, boring, moronic, asshole yet........here you are CONSTANTLY!!!!!!!!!! day in and day out, CONSTANTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude, are you really this ing hard up for something to do? Ever thought of actually posting a thread, ya know show me how it's done? Don't you ever get tired of chasing me around saying the same old silly bull ?
CN, why not do something more interesting than just....me.....ok?
One more rtime...
You start posting threads and I'll stop, deal? Step up to the plate slugger, or...shut the up!
There's some hilarious irony of you choosing that thread of all threads to call me out on considering the co-founder of this site praised me for quality takes on enemy turf leaving the thread exist despite me asking for its deletion because I wasn't vain enough to have the needless thread exist since my good bud Xylus posted his similarly contented thread seconds before.
Love how you had to travel back to 2010 to find anything you thought was embarrassing or unnecessary.
Yep... the Bentonia School of Delta Blues. It's a subset. Even the good folk of Bentonia acknowledge this...

I talked about all of Mississippi being called the Delta blues....right? And that will work, but if ya want to get it tright/technical, Skip James wasn[t from what is considered the Mississippi Delta. You'll notice that Patton, House, Tommy and Robert Johnson were from no other school, ya see they were actual Delta players, something Skip James wasn;t...IF..ya want the true facts of the situation.
You've already noticed that James has a little different sound that the others, right?
the devil's in the details genstein. but I'm not going to have a troll pissing match over it. I'm enjoying the book too much to want to debate everything with you.
You're just now learning what I learned over 20 years ago, your reading "a" book on htopic, I own a dozen. You are youtubing those old tunes I own over 1000 CD's featuring them old blues. I 'm just trying to help ya out guy , if ya want to get it wrong go for it, or ya could actully pay attention to a gay who has heard them all and knows more about the music than some cat who has never heard of Bo Jones.
Time to cool the internet bull and let me help ya out here guy. Football/sprinting/blues.....my three passions (other than family) and I know what I;m talking about.
I'll just live with getting it "wrong".
What it is is that you are all excited about this one book. Dude, I've read a lot of wrong info in books before, atually tons of stuff. What you need to do is read a lot of stuff before..."he knows he wrote a book".....trust me ya need more than one source, ok?
In his classic...The Country Blues....Samuel Charters (repected blues historian) writes about Big Joe Williams also recording as King Solomon Hill, well he was 100% wrong, King Solomin Hill turned out to be a cat from Louisiana named Joe Holmes. I have a CD....Mississippi Delt Blues....with Texan Blind Willie Johnson there, Memphis player Sleepy John Estes there. And I could go on and on, don't believe everything ya read until you've read the same things said from other sources.
Those that can't do, teach.
Or better yet, those that can't do, post on the internet about it.
