Miami played pretty damn good all things considered and their defense was on another level from what the Spurs have seen.
Miami basically played the same D scheme the Mavs did. They were slightly better at it. But the end result was the same as first game 1.

I think the Spurs picked up on it in the 4th. Miami kept funneling the Spurs players into traps (mostly on the baseline) and picking off the outlet pass. Spurs got smart in the 4th by rotating to passing lanes instead of just standing there waiting for passes. lead to a lot of wide open shots in the 4th.

OKC and Portland provided different schemes, where they had shot blockers at the rim. Miami doesn't have this so, they use their athleticism to trap. I am sure the Spurs will do a much better job in Game 2 and their rotation to beat the traps Miami tries to set the in Half Court game.

Does anyone else think that no AC contributed to the Spurs turnovers? I do. In such a big game I've never seen so many unforced turnovers. Tired and heat exhausted players pass poorly and generally just don't react as quickly. For example how many times, do you see a backcourt violation like the one the Spurs committed?
I was going to post this. Yes, the environment had to have contributed to awkward play. Hopefully all of it, but surely some of it.

Miami's defense has always ben better than lots of folks in here want to believe. THey have been in our passing lanes so often in so many games you just have to expect us to turn the ball over. That IS their defensive game plan against us.

I always predicted that these games would look ugly, and I am confident that last night's game is not the last of the ugly games we will see from the Spurs.

Regardless of ugly or pretty, regardless of who is on the court or not, I'll take any kind of win I can get.

The heat effected everybody, and it was noticeable in how sluggish most players on both sides of the court looked in the 4th quarter. Stupid, stupid, unforced turnovers from us almost did us in, but earlier in the game, it was the Miami defense getting in our passing lanes that was keeping us in check.
Miami's defense was just short of incredible. They really disrupt the Spurs' sets. The way they scramble to close down gaps on drives, especially, is second to none. We're fortunate the Spurs were able to find new angles, like Diaw's second pass to Green's three. It's going to take a lot of creativity on the coaches' part and a lot of exceptional execution to keep the turnovers low.

I don't know the Heat numbers, but I actually think this affected the turnovers for both teams. The Heat and Spurs play great D, but some of the turnovers were just uncharacteristic for both teams. Hopefully, this will be a non-issue in game 2.

A win is a win, get over it. Yes, there were a butt load of turnovers and that was ugly!!! Frankly I am quite pleased that the Spurs pulled this out of the dumper!!! LeCramp is a Drama Queen and should have had a Flagrant called on him for shoving Splitter. (Yes, I think Splitter embellished the shove.)

They did not stop a huge number of easy shots by Duncan. The perimeter D is awesome, but they gave it up in the paint. That's a big problem with their style.
This is why I feel if we win Timmy will be MVP.

    "not satisfying", "no business", "undeserving"

From a fanbase that had to witness .4, The Foul, and 6, gimme a f'n break. I'll take any Finals win however it comes tbh.

Totally agree with this. It took a bit for the coaches to sort out what Dallas was doing, and as someone here pointed out, Miami was doing just what Dallas did, only better.

There is no mention in the record books next to a W for 'but it was ugly". We'll take it any way we can get it. Not nearly as ugly as having 23 turnovers and a L.

Along with the 23 turnovers, the Spurs also had 30 assists and out-rebounded the Heat by 10. When you think about that, having 30 assists ALONG WITH 23 turnovers is just incredible. Imagine what the score could have been with only 15 or 16 turnovers.

They will look at the tape and see many many ways they can improve, can't say the same for miami. We had so many unforced turnovers and how about that period in the 3rd when no one would shoot. They have to recognize a good shot and take it. You probably won't get great shots all the time against miami.

We had our typical 3rd quarter collapse AGAIN. I bet you we lost 80% of the 3rd quarters in these playoffs.

Yeah, it seems like Miami maxed out their options on offense. They basically feed everything through LeBron on a team with that much talent, it's pretty ridiculous. The cramping might suggest that LeBron's body might be breaking down tbh.

Sure, Bosh and Allen won't miss as much in the next games, but our guys won't slip up as much either.

I think its fortunate the Spurs won too but the strange thing is that we won just about every statistical category. The truth is, Miami got some really good looks at 3's and missed. Ray Allen was wide open on more than a couple of attempts and just missed. Spurs definitely caught a break there.

Every game is different though and the Spurs now know what speed Miami is capable of playing at on defense. They are also the smartest team the Spurs have faced.

im with this guy, danny green has gotten a lot better at finishing around the rim and at the rim. but he still botches some pretty easy layins and dunks, usually on fastbreaks.

that said im greens biggest fan, i think his 3s are just gravy to his def awareness, hustle on both sides of the ball, and being in the right place at the right time/IQ/heads up plays.

I wont feel y unless we win game 2 because they feel all they have to do is win one here. And also, the reason we had so many turnovers is because there D was awesome on our pass happy offense, something I dont think we necessarily figured out.
I guess I was right and it wasnt such a good idea to be so y.
