outside of game 3 he was a trainwreck. Neal and Joseph were trainwrecks, Splitter too. Now Tiago and Mills are playing like studs.

Beli production this run is definitely better than Neals '13 postseason.
Umm no. Belinelli or no belinelli. Neal would just eat into the minutes of others. He's not the great teammate sit on the bench all game every game type.
Patty fits the system perfectly. None of his shots were forced, ala Gary Neal.
Patty Mills has been a good replacement this year
Yes, I would rather have him than Belli, especially if Patty bolts next year, Gary would be MUCH better replacement than Belli.
I already said this a few days ago. Win or Lose, Spurs have to move Marco in the off-season. He's another Bonner. Good for inflating regular season numbers but absolute garbage in the playoffs. No coincidence that the only game he played significant minutes in this series is also the game we lost. him.
Patty's a nice player though. Would like SA to keep him as long as the price isn't too high.
Marco has only been here a year, he will improve. The guy has the talent.
He's Bonner 2.0. Low bball IQ, ty defense, mentally weak. Regular season stat padder.
Damn, I don't get the Neal hate. Dude had nuts of steel at times. I wouldn't want him as a starter but we've had much worse of-the-bench scorers in the last 15 years than Gary Neal.
Neal is still the only Spur to ever hit a win-or-go-home shot in the playoffs.
Neal had his flaws on defense, but that dude was clutch as and came up big in big moments. He's not better than Patty, but I would love to have him as a last-resort weapon on offense at the end of the bench.
Beli's a garbage time allstar. He's making sure we have padding on our final margins.
He's already surpassed Bonner with the huge 3 in game 3. It was really huge psychologically. A dagger shot. I don't think the Heat got it to single digits after that. That's a shot Bonner would have never made.
Patty is the key here, addition by subtraction with Neal! We get more Patty now so we won. I dont miss Neal at all. Belli is some but he doesn't play at all so screw it.
Bonner is just utterly worthless, period. I agree there his one shot he made passed that red bozo..... He never did here and still got PT.
Gary Neal-
Win Share Per 48 Minutes (league average .100)- -0.52
Net Rtg- -6
TS%-50.3%
P.E.R- 9.0
Marco Bellinelli-
TS%-57%
Net Rtg- +3 P.E.R-10.5
Win Share Per 48 minutes- 0.98
don't turn this into another Larry Sanders is better than Tiago Splitter argument.
Bonner doesn't have a low ball IQ, he just has the same athletic capabilities of John Goodman.
Nah not really.
but if I ever needed a 3 in a clutch moment I wouldn't mind having Gary shoot.
The regular season stat padding makes for easier victories which means less reliance on our older than dirt stars. It all adds up. Beli is valuable, and so was Neal.
Neal sealed his fate when he let a shoeless player hit a three over him. No championship caliber team who saw that travesty would ever take a chance on a player that inept.
Marco has been bad, but he needs this experience. He'll improve.
Neal was clutch, but he was never Spurs material.
wow coach nick, like this wasnt something we knew last year? It almost makes me wonder if he has watched the spurs before?
Patty shot better (percentage and eye-test), played better defense, and had overall better advanced stats, he just didnt get many chances to prove how much better he was. This year is was evident from the very beginning he was better, and has a higher ceiling.
this just in, coach nick says tim duncan should not retire due to solid play.
