Michael Jordan is Officially a Billionaire

Just when you thought Michael Jordan couldn’t get any richer, he does. Although many may have thought that Jordan had to be a billionaire already, Forbes reported today that he has increased his stake in the Charlotte Hornets from 80% to 89.5%.

Jordan first invested in the Hornets in 2006 and became the controlling owner in 2010 when he bought out Robert Johnson for $175 million. Sports analysts say the Hornets are currently worth between $600 million and $625 million. After you take away all the cash Jordan has invested in the team, Forbes estimates his net worth outside of the Hornets to be $600 million, giving him a net worth of a $1 billion.
