Spurs close out tonight but what if Lebron drops a memorable performance, somewhere along the stat line of 40+ pts, 10+ rebs 10+ assts in a losing effort while Kawhi falls back to earth with a good but not FMVP worthy 15 pts, 8 reb game?

Statistically, he's still above every Spurs player. Kawhi is the Spurs guy right now but his first 2 games were awful. I mean lets be honest, none of the Spurs player deserves it since they're winning as a team unlike Miami who is single handedly being carried by James.

Should the voters give James the Jerry West treatment?

i assume it depends how many of his productions from either green or kawhi defending him and how much production from kawhi...

if it comes to a stalemate where kawhi or lebron has no advantage over each other, i prefer they give it to kawhi

but we both know neither of them are winning it....someone is looming with a knife to backstabbed for the opportunity

enrique has been waiting for this.....the moment has come for him to forward his plan...

hopefully popa pulls the got out once any signs of heroballing....

if the spurs do win it all and they hand it to enrique, they might as well go change the nba logo with that turds face on it since the logo is already in french national colors, all u need is the kents face on it....

I think if James keeps this game close only to lose by 2 or 4 in the last few seconds, with that type of stat line, James should win it. And it's not a dig on any Spurs or Kawhi's effort. They all played exceptionally well but none of them really deserves it at this point, unless Leonard continues to outplay James but in a wider margin today.

It'll go to Lebron if Duncan, Parker, or Ginobili don't end up with the most points in the series, and even if Miami loses.

htf is james going to win it when his posting up finals avgs lower then his previous finals series? this is worse or equal to 07.....

he has no excuse playing to a stalemate with kawhi for 2 straight finals appearances...

i dont care if his playing on a 1man team with bosh and wade ting the bed, he could be doing more but his protecting his fg efficiency for no apparent reason, ppl will judge him on that why his not attempting more when his scoring well....thing with lebron now is damn if he wins, damn if he doesnt...

I have a feeling Duncan will win it too unless Leonard finishes the series with a bang.

James doesn't deserve the series MVP at this point. If you're a fan of points per game and his efficiency then sure, you can make a case for him but we've all seen how empty his stats were during games 3 and 4, especially in the pivotal Game 4 where he was a non factor in the first half only to score 19 points in a meaningless 3rd quarter which I believe was Popovich's plan to keep the rest of the Heat players cold.

Lebron is a non factor for the most part. He's been horrible defensively and he's been averaging more turnovers than assists in this series. Jerry West averaged 38 PPG in 69' with a triple dub effort in Game 7. His effort and numbers are Finals MVP worthy even on a losing cause.

In a weird way, it would be a complement to the Spurs if LeBron won it. It would further epitomize the fact that the spurs win as a "team" and not with the greatness of one individual.

They will not give the Finals MVP to anyone who's not an All Star or past All Star, even if that player is the true leader and best player for the Finals.

For example, in 2004 Rip Hamilton was the leading scorer for the Pistons in the Finals but they gave the MVP to Chauncey Billups.

Kawhi Leonard could average 30 ppg this series but they'll still give it to Duncan, Parker, or even Ginobili, if not them, then Lebron if Miami loses.

if kawhi beasted for the win and he doesnt get rewarded fmvp

i see this playing out in the future when his contract is up, he wont stick around if enrique or any wanker he dislikes is still on the team

kawhi is the present and future right now, not giving him the award or keys means how much longer will spurs fo test his patience to be handed the franchise?

Getting FMVP would be the worst thing for Kawhi. Right now he's still so young and has bought into the team concept. Winning FMVP will make him think he's the man, that he deserves max money, that he should get more shots, touches, minutes, ... Not good stuff.

kawhi knows his the man, his the one going toe to toe with lebron

his not the one scoring empty baskets in scrub minutes or taking consecutive possessions chucking to show the world his a man

if that person wants to show his a man to the world, why didnt he hit that thug who bottle him over the head, i dont believe in accidents man....

Only if he drops something unreal like 60-15-5 in a loss or something.

Kiwi probably wins it. Enrique/Tim don't deserve it. Manu would be my second choice.

Tim absolutely has a case for FMVP - especially if he has a great line tonight in a win. To me, it's a 3 player race in this order:

    1) Manu
    2) Kawhi
    3) Tim
    4) Boris

If the Spurs win tonight and one of those top 3 has a signature performance, they should win it. If Boris has a great game in a win while the other 3 struggle some, he can win it.

Just perfect. I just created a thread about nerds trying to judge the play of MVP's based on everything except basketball. Good going, guy.

Boris has been a bigger offensive catalyst & it's not like Tim's defensive prowess has amounted to too much. Before the Heat flat out gave up they were doing fine on offense, they just couldn't stop a nosebleed. Tim's been playing well, just not exceptional like Kawhi has been.

If he wins it it'll be because he's Tim Duncan. (But on that note I think Tony would win it before he would because he's Tony Parker and he's the leading scorer.)

If a series goes 4-1, I don't see a case for MVP for anybody on the losing team. Seven games, sure, but not five.

There's a reason only the first Finals MVP went to a player on the losing team. It was a mistake.

After Wade's defense so far, Spur should give the FMVP to him.
