Nothing would happen to his legacy. That's absurd.

His legacy would be fine. But Pop would be the undisputed GOAT coach.

Parker and Manu would both tie with Duncan at 5 rings. You start wondering who was more important.

Duncan won with Robinson. Parker and Manu would win with Kawhi. Big 3 remembered differently as Parker Manu Kawhi for 2012-2015 stretch.

The Spurs could probably do more with that 10m dollars in cap space. If I'm the Spurs, I'd push him towards retiring on top. Splitter only does poorly when played with Duncan. A Splitter and Diaw combo would do just fine.

What would happen to the Champs' legacies if they traded everyone and won with a different group of guys and a new coach next year?

Same group without Duncan would be kind of sketch to be honest.

Duncan's +/- was not impressive this playoffs.

Let's play a game: I dare you to find ANY player (obviously non-rookie) who is paid $10m a year and produces more than Duncan.

Duncan averaged ~ 15 & 10 all the way through the regular season and the playoffs. He's stupidly effective, regardless of age or salary. Actually the huge pay cut he took is akin to rigging the NBA in the Spurs favor, as it allowed the Spurs to sign a guy like Diaw for $5m.

Actually have fun comparing Duncan's and Bosh's production... you'll notice they are nearly identical (actually Duncan is better) yet Bosh is paid twice as much.

Duncan's going to give you 11 and 6 next year on 45% shooting in 26 min / game appearing in 55 games. That's what a 39 year old is capable of.

You should bring your crystal ball to a NBA team, I'm sure they could use somebody with your foresight.

Duncan had one of the best post-seasons in history for a player over 38 year old. Outside of Kareem, there aren't any players in history capable of doing what Duncan did these last two years.

I think next season is Duncans last ride. I hope he opens up day one by announcing that it his last season, it will fuel the team all year to send him out on top and get the repeat.

Below is a selection of ty posts from the OP, mostly aimed at Duncan. And TD sent his ass to the tree of woe by putting up 16.3 pts, 9.1 rbs, 1.3 blk, 52% shooting, while leading the team in minutes played and protecting the rim.

I'm really worried that Tim Duncan will want to try so hard to win and Pop will want him to have the court that he will hurt us in this series.

It's clear that Duncan on Bosh is going to be as ugly as Hibbert on Bosh. There's a reason Duncan wasn't in the game on Bosh in Game 6.
Who are the players we can least afford to lose if we want to win a championship vs. OKC / Miami?

    1. Kawhi Leonard
    2. Manu Ginobili
    3. Boris Diaw
    4. Danny Green
    5. Tiago Splitter
    6. Tony Parker
    7. Tim Duncan

Sorry folks. This is the sad truth.
I just don't see how Tim Duncan protects the rim any better against these athletes.
Duncan can play Collison / Perkins minutes if you want to include him on this championship ride.
Tim also offers 0 rim protection. He gets his blocks these days from "tip" blocks ... timing well against inferior unsuspecting athletes. That's not for this round or the next.
Too bad we're all hitched to this 38 year old. What so if he comes back next year he's automatically a starter again? And he automatically gets to play 10 more minutes a night in the playoffs? What a joke.
Why are we playing this dude 35 minutes?

Do we only want to win a championship if Duncan is in a featured role or do we just want to win a championship?
Yep. Time to retire Duncan and get rid of Parker. Those 2 are the opposite of long and athletic.
Duncan is useless. Why are we playing him? Loyalty? that
Bump again. Duncan and Parker are useless in the new NBA. You need Chris Bosh as your center.

You got me there on a number of issues. But my list below proved to be exactly correct.

    1. Kawhi Leonard
    2. Manu Ginobili
    3. Boris Diaw
    4. Danny Green
    5. Tiago Splitter
    6. Tony Parker
    7. Tim Duncan

Duncan was #1 on the Spurs squad in both PER and win shares throughout the playoffs. So no, your list was as ty as your other posts.

I sure hope he gives us less. In the regular season, that is, so that he can give me 15 and 10 again in the playoffs.

Lol Spurs won't repeat without Duncan. He still blocks shots, gets rebounds, and is still one of the top 10 big men in the game.
