I think Cul deserve an appreciation thread tbh

I was convinced he would not show up ever again after Tim rang but surprisingly he came back and owned up like a man. He has been consistent, I respect that.

    so to Cul

Cubby's bball takes are usually on point. It's just that his senility leads him off topic more often than not and tends to regurgitate schtick after schtick.

Now go home and get your shinebox.

That part never grows old. Great actors even on the periphery lend to it.

It's personal to both the principals and they sell out for it. Not to us the first time we sit down and watch, but, forever more it is REAL. has happened before. This isn't all that's between them, but, now we know there is lots more.

And it's all there in "Goodfellas." Scorsese forces "Tommy" to remain hunched over the bar, small, weak, put upon...near psychotic in mere moments. The other fellow is upright, tall, brazen, just busting balls. Right off the American viewer is enthralled, Scorsese pushing ALL the buttons.

    It's wonderful.

    Nah. Goodfellas (1990), Casino (1995).

& I thought Scorsese repeating the scene in Casino was beneath him. It was unlike his MO. Stallone gives us what we want. Vince McMahon gives us what we want. We didn't want that from Scorsese. He wanted to give it to us for some inexplicable reason. The scene wasn't gross, it's inclusion was.

Maybe he just felt like doing it one more time, to see what he'd learned. Or because it was fun.

But, it was so contrived and out of left field to the story line. In Fellas it was integral. In Casino it was embarrassing. But, to be frank there is a lot of embarrassing moments in Casino. It looked harried from the start and it never got better.

Not sure what scene you're talking about but Casino was very very closely based on a true story. Look up Lefty Rosenthal. Pretty much everything in there happened. Was amazed when I watched an A&E bio of this Rosenthal how true it was. They just had to change the names for whatever reason
