lol you attacked first and now we're bags for taking it back at you?
lol never rang
because you look at the players and not at the team.
England will always have good players, they will never have the mentality to play like a team and they will never develop children to play football instead of long ball. I've said it time and time again on this forum. But still some of the other posters consider england as a good side .. whereas they haven't shown anything in 50 years for god's sake. The same old longball and the same loses, the same "we are a contender yet we can't beat usa or algeria". Predictable, as always, not even hodgson is the reason, it's the entire english football system, from 10 year olds development to getting cucked by tiny uruguay after they played a game.
Relevancy melting down and it's not even the La Liga season yet
Nah, after the last WC I thought they were due. I also thought Uruguay and Italy were going to the bed.
To be fair, the country can't test the system if the old TOSB managers insist on playing the old TOSB players year after year instead of letting young talent play..
What did you guys think of 19 year old Gimenez playing besides Godin in the back? IMO Lugano should just let the kid play even if he gets healthy tbh
there is never "they are due". There are teams that understand that winning takes commitmment and cohesiveness from the federation + coaching + playing style + players ..and they do it for many years and get results (dutch, germans, italians, brazilian 10 years ago, and in the last 10 years spaniards) and there are "star teams".
Like england. Like the last 3 brasilian sides. Like argentina 2010 and I'm sorry to say it right now. Amazing talent in all those sides. But they don't play like a team, they play like 11 players out there on the pitch. This starts from under 15/16/18/21 sides playing different styles because they are not integrated in the same system at federation level.
It continues with crazy coaching decisions like:
- eriksson then capello then hodgson wtf team iden y does this build? at least pick similar styles ffs, of course they'll play the most basic if the team never has an iden y. Long ball to the rescue
- or maradona ... in good god's name the man is not a coach. The argentine federation simply shat on their talent with such a moronic choice. The argentine federation is wasting one of the GOAT footballers with such bull
- brasil coaching in the last 10 years has been patchy at best. Lots of 180 degree changes and a NT that hasn't shown much.
And it ends up on the field where the team always lacks an iden y and you see the same mistakes year in year out. The same 1v1s when a pass was in order. The same "stars" mentality. The same uninspired play against a good team and the same blind hope that "next time will be better".
And it continues because these teams will beat lesser sides in qualifications and groups by individual quality (rooney, messi, neymar, etc). Then everybody will say: look, we were so close. Or like you say:"we are due next time". Only next time it's the same all over again, because the real reasons remain unchanged. These teams never control the game, they can never put a boot in the other team's face and take the game by the balls.
Look at spain and germany and what they did with their NT in the last 10 years. Then look another 5 years eariler to see federation level decisions that led to a common playing style and a team iden y. You can take a german kid from u16 and he'll be familiar with the NT playstyle. Also the federations understood that you have to think longterm to get somewhere. That's the difference between contender and pretender. A long term game plan. And the results back this up nicely.
federation hires said TOSB managers that call the TOSB players. There's your problem. In a nation of 60+ million obssessed with football there will always be talent.
if he's the other CB he did ok. some mistakes that would of been costly against a better side. A bit too young for a world cup CB, experience really matters.
As a Sao Paulo FC fan I am huge Lugano fan but he looks done. He has been irrelevant in Europe for 3 years now. Uruguay looks better with Gimenez.
A.Pereira looked great too. Sao Paulo fans love him.

And you get never disappointed with his meltdowns.![]()
