Should be stickied.
For those who don't know the difference.
Resigned means that a person leaves his job or position voluntarily. Re-signed means that a person signs a contract again for the same position.
Should be stickied.
Sure, and I agree. But why is this coming up now? Getting it out of the way before the off-season begins?
Look at the Messina thread.
Some posters are getting sad in the Messina thread about him "resigning" from his coaching position overseas.
Thanks for the clarification guys.
It can also mean coming to accept an inevitable, if less than ideal, situation;
e.g. The Spurs have resigned themselves to Matt Bonner.
While in regards to sign language the other has the same meaning as repeating a word or phrase;
e.g. Because the hearing impaired journalist was looking away the first time, the coach had to re-sign Matt Bonner.

It's just a shame that it is that way, one of the most confusing things in the English language.![]()
Yeah, thanks for the clarification.
All these years I had it wrong. Now I know.
If Dad is Pop, how's come Mom isn't Mop?
Well, because it's Friday.
Now if people can learn the difference between their, there, and they're.
Last time that fooled me, was when Mike D'Antoni resigned in LA.
To bad, i got my hopes up.![]()

Well, technically, if Dad is Pop, then Mom would be Yop...
I'm surprised no one here has called you a grammar nazi and told you to STFU.
Too many people here enjoy wallowing in their ignorance.
SFIE with the Pop longevity goods
If the plural of mouse is mice, then why is the plural of house not hice?
Pop is shortened form of Papa. Ma, is shortened form of Mama
English is just ed up in general, at least in terms of spelling and pronounciation. ( did I even spell that right?)
Their are many people who don't know that there using they're words incorrectly.
Did I do it right? haha jk.
I know that...I was just applying a pattern.
Don't get into a spell-check/grammar-check fight with me...you know you won't like the results...![]()
