Numbers don't say the whole story.
Starting to hear that Game of Thrones reference used for KL on some sports talk stuff.
Kinda silly as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah, he played as good a defense on King James as possible under the current rule book but LBJ still put up impressive as numbers...he just didn't have the TEAM around him that Kawhi Leonard had...
Your thoughts? Is the hype getting ahead of reality?
Numbers don't say the whole story.
Lebron has a pretty damn good supporting cast. That team made it to the finals four years in a row. Kawhi didnt stop Lebron no better than Bowen used to stop Kobe, but noone in the league does a better job at making Lebron work for everything he makes the way king slayer does. i wish we can see % stats when Kawhi is guarding Lebron vs his normal season stats. that would answer that question.
Who do you think would win in a 20 minute one on one?
Don't get me wrong, I love the kid. Just saying that slaying King James was a collective effort.
I don't think Kawhi needs that kind of a nickname only to motivate every punkass he plays every night. No way.
Slaying the king in game of thrones was a collective effort as well.
Well, LeBron is obviously the better player. I'm just saying stats don't say the whole story.
Spurs shut down the likes of Wade, Bosh, Allen, etc. so this meant the majority of the offense had to go through LeBron. He had so many possessions throughout the finals, and I'd bet money that if he played a team like Indiana or OKC he could've gone for 30+ a night easily. But Leonard just wore James out. He challenged on the offensive end, attacked him defensively, and he contested a good amount of his passes/shots.
The fact LBJ averaged 28 despite being Miami's ONLY offensive source is actually pretty impressive. Besides, most of LBJ's points came in the first quarter or when the game was already out-of reach. Basically when the pressure wasn't quite applied yet.
Kawhi didn't really shut-down or out-play LBJ for the full 48 minutes, but he definitely scorched him whenever the game was close.
I get the media's need to put a label on things. Debates of accuracy said I just find it annoying because of the implication that what he accomplished was most special because of his opponent rather than its own merits. And frankly a little uncreative for my tastes.
If you're dead set on making a GOT reference then make it about some particular to Kawhi. Dude's got the hands to do a guy in like The Mountain did. The MVPeak or something.
It was a collective effort to go to war against the Mad King, but it was Jaime Lannister alone that killed him.
Dont say that King will own us in game 6... Oh wait.... KING SUCKS!
The collective won the war, and Jamie killed him. Makes perfect sense :-)
, I hope Kawhi doesn't lose a hand.
Or get some weird romantic feelings for a giant butch woman, tbh.
Well, he made Dwade, look Dwashed up.
I like it. Who cares if it's a Game of Thrones reference or that Kawhi didn't exactly win FMVP by more than a very small margin over Duncan? It's a cool nickname.
Sword in back
Poison/boar
Poison
Crossbow bolts in chest by midget (he sorta counts)
One person did it each time so far to be technical
Game of thrones dorks.. go play world of warcraft or something. Why do geeks post this on a Spurs message board?
The slaying of King James was in inside job. Kawhi was magnificent, but James rode in alone.
That was Danny Green. Wade certainly didn't look washed up when he was ting all over Indiana in the ECF, but that's how the media does it instead of giving Verde his props.
I remember all the so called Heat fans here in Vegas yapping about a healthy Wade being the key to beating the Spurs in the finals.
Why don't you go suck on the tailpipe of a semi truck and swallow .
"You can get shooting guards like Danny green anywhere". Sorry manny![]()
