That's what you have to pay for being too good for too long.
How no one cares about the American national teams in basketball and baseball, 2 of the top 3 sports, compared to the attention the USMNT is getting in this world cup? I know the Americans are a fun scrappy underdog to root for but still..
That's what you have to pay for being too good for too long.
Baseball
"sp..
ok I've done enough damage
A) Not enough nations know Baseball exists
B) Basketball is too height based. Bosnia Herzegovina has 3 Million people. How many males are over 6 foot 6 and interested in athletics? Etc.
& soccer is a great babysitting tool.
lol soccer
Not really. Baseball is fading in popularity overall. As for basketball, the US men's team is expected to dominate and have little compe ion. As a result, fans don't pay attention. The reason soccer is getting so much attention is because we are always the underdogs, and Americans love a good underdog story.
It's ingrained in our history. An underdog nation who comes of age and dominance and it reminds us of our supposed fabric. That is, unless your black or brown skinned then you are still perpetually stuck in the underdog role.
Ya cynic, you.
The ring thru my nose is for Girl, not ESPN.
Or, Sterling perpetually stuck in the gallows there in Los Angeles.
I enjoyed watching the US baseball team before the Ioc ed em
How many countries play bball professionally? Same with baseball? Soccer has leagues all over the world. The World Cup is a huge event. USA BBall is expected to win......so when the USA soccer team starts doing well of course people will tune in because it's surprising.
...& ESPN says so.
Basketball is the fastest growing sport in the world. So there's that.
Don't hate on the WBC...
Don't say it. The world's tallest population resides in the region that covers Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albânia.

It's difficult to put on a Baseball game. 9 gloves, balls, bats, helmets. A baseball field with mounds. Even in the USA kids are forced to play baseball on Soccer & Football fields.
Soccer is ever growing in the USA commercially. Up until a few years ago you couldn't even watch Top European leagues on television. Now EPL is available on NBC & Bundesliga (German) is joining Fox. If MLS can continue adding quality overseas players, something special could occur.
I remember the year I attended school in Vancouver 1998. They didn't even have a Baseball team. Basketball was #2 behind Hockey. I played Basketball & Rugby.
But AVERAGE...most of the world doesn't have its own purposely inbred over hundreds of years super human athlete pool to draw from
I guess you could say the NBA is one of the only positive things to come from hundreds of years of slavery![]()
national average heights are increasing (especially some 3rd world countries thanks to improved living environments) so even if you're at or slightly above your nation's average, it's nothing worth cheering for because you're probably in the bottom quarter of your generation imho.
America watches basketball all the time.
They watch soccer once every four years just like swimming, gymnastics, curling, and skiing.
Cowherd has an answer for this, Mel, but, it's convoluted and has to do with liberals, old white people, mostly old white men, Fox News, young people, demographics, + a wing & a prayer.
Gallows my ass. He made 2 billion from a team that wasn't worth half that. That's some fancy ass gallows.

Got no idea what Sterling is complaining about. If some er offered me twice what my car is worth, I'd sell it to him in an instant.
