You gave a ring away a year ago. Anything is possible.
If none of the big free agents sign with them over the next 2-3 years,,,,their brand is officially done. They have all the cap space in the world. They have the 2nd biggest media market in the US. If they can't land a superstar like Melo, LeBron, Durant, or Love they might as well concede to the Clippers and move to Seattle. This might be the biggest fall of a sports super franchise of all time. Its not even fun to laugh at them anymore,,,tbh. , the Knicks even landed Stoudimire and Anthony and they suck. Lakers last big free agent signing was Shaq and that was almost 20 years ago. The only thing they could do out of pure desperation was give 48.5 to a sidekick.
You gave a ring away a year ago. Anything is possible.
silver lining is the Spurs are coming off of 3 straight long playoff runs, so 2015 isn't a surefire ring despite them retaining everyone.
And you gave away 48.5 plus a pair of not functioning feet.
Ha, ha
They've hit it though at the bulls-eye, they dismantled their strongest adversary and scattered them to the 4 winds. The rest of league continues to experience an alarming lack of talent & focused talent when it can be located. San Antonio not only has the aforementioned talent, they also are brimming with the aforementioned focused talent. A monopoly on these two en ies? They're loitering there.
A 20% cut on 25/6/6 is justifiable.
Not to defend Sterling but the Clippers are still "the ghetto team in town". Attend the game and you know what I'm talking about. A few losing seasons don't take away the banners in the rafters.

Bend over, I'll show ya what's cut.
Duncan>Kobe. Let us proceed.
Silly. Cowboys have been worse for longer and yet their games typically have the best ratings and sell the most merchandise. I get that your trolling but that doesn't make any sense. And tbh, some part of me would rather not sign Melo or Love because I agree with Phil who seems to be hesitant to offer Melo max money. Only Durant & Lebron are worth that imho, and the chances of us getting either are slim and none. So there is no "quick fix" ... but the Lakers brand endures as does the ignorance in your post.
We will eat the 48.5 million sandwhich whether Kobe plays or not that is our cross to bear... but our brand despite being a sorry team currently, still eclipses the Spurs not even 5 changes that.
The fact you post this only a week after your vistory parade shows how much teh brand matters. Dont see you posting this about the Kings, Magic etc.
Spurs are the NBA Champions. Lakers are a lottery team.
Let us proceed...
No doubt about it right now you guys are kings and we are paupers ... how long do you think THAT dynamic will last?
But right now Laker fans cannot say to a SPur fan, true story.
But doesnt change tha fact that the original post is flawed.
Kobe averaged 25/6/6 during his 48.5 contract? Oh, you want to pay someone for past performance .... oh.
That's his 2013 numbers when kobe had an injured Dwight hold his hand. What did he put up this year in 2014 without superman?
Absolutely. He took a 20% cut based on 25/6/6.
The 48.5 was based on 25/6/6 and represented a 20% cut from his previous salary.
Yeah in 2013. What are Kobe's number this year in 2014?
His most important 2013 number is the 7-seed
Meaningless, the extension starts in November.
To you. Me?
Kobe: 5
the tired old bag Duncan: 5
That's what you want us to believe. The extension started in November 2013. Need proof?
Yeah, go ahead.
Yeah, go ahead.
