Don't know anything about next years draft class, but lol @ Pelicans.
There is a solid chance that is a Top 10 pick...
Here's another reason I'm bothered: Morey was desperate. He had to unload asik before free agency started. Demps had all the leverage. Morey couldn't get a first and expirings at the deadline, but now he gets a potential lottery pick?
Demps could have squeezed him. , he could have waited until after free agency and probably still had the same deal, with the added bonus of screwing over a western playoff team. Who else was willing to pay $15 in cash and 8 on the books for that malcontent?
He probably could have gotten away with only giving up seconds.

Pelicans are dumb, they should have asked for a 1st , not giving one of their own picks in this deal.
grumpy wierdo
They may potentially miss out on three lottery picks in a row. That's absurd.
Especially when you are relying on injury-prone players to be the cornerstone of the team. Even if they stay healthy, there absolute ceiling in a perfect world would be to win 45-50 games...
Ridiculous.
This goes to show how easy it is to mess things up really badly even if you get a great big from the draft. Everything Pelicans have done since getting AD has been disastrous - sending out 3 potentially lottery picks, overpaying for Tyreke, Jrue and Gordon and drafting Rivers. They won't even have cap flexibility until 2017/2018 ( after they max out AD ). Holy , poor AD.
When Pop says the best they've done is not messing things up after drafting Duncan he probably means exactly this lol
Asik is a good-to-great defender and getting him for almost nothing should help the Pelicans. Holiday & Anderson will be back this season from injury and combined with Davis' development and a decent frontcourt rotation (Davis, Asik, Anderson, Smith), the Pels will possibly be right close to the PO berths (anywhere between 7-10 in the loaded Western Conference). If that is what is going to happen next season, the Rockets will probably land the 13-19th picks. That is a good deal for the Pels.
Agreed. They made some questionable moves last year too. Swapping their pick for Holiday as well as overpaying for Tyrke Evans.
Which is why he should come play for the Spiurs as soon as his rookie contract is up...![]()
He'll be in NO at least until 2019.
Exactly! It's not like they didin't KNOW that Houston desperately trying to dump two bloated contracts to get Melo!
Terrible job by Demps.
Both Houston and Dallas clearing space to make a run at Melo.
They are both gambling heavily IMHO.
