right, because you're hornsessed.
Haney = DMX7?
right, because you're hornsessed.
Yeah, the ESPN insider article seems way over the top, but the results are not good so far. We will see though...
Too early to judge strong but he will have a shorter least thanost coaches at other schools.

Mack Brown was a great speaker and Ambassador for the school. But he sucked at holding kids accountable and he sucked at developing talent. If Charlie can excel at those things Texas will be better off.
I wonder how Pop would have handled a speech like that?
Pop didn't have to recruit. He just drafts players. Apples to oranges.
I get that but I'm talking about how his personality would do in situations like this?
If this coach had bigger balls, he would put his name to the quote. This whole article smacks of agenda. I'll begin to form my opinion on Strong after his first season. If he win 8 games, he has a good year, if he wins 9-10 then he will have greatly overachieved.
A pre-season hype video for the 2014 team:

I'm telling you guys, Haney's the same reporter who wrote this:
His angle is talking about Texas and Strong. These quotes were either cherrypicked or totally fabricated, and others — who have put their names to it — have said they had the opposite impression from the talk.“[The Strong hire] isn’t scaring anyone in Texas,” one coach told me, referring to the state’s other programs. The same coach added that the prospect of the Longhorns hiring Baylor head coach Art Briles “terrified” those in the area. They felt Briles was the perfect football fit, even if he isn’t the most media-oriented coach in America. (Or if the thought of hiring Baylor’s coach was difficult to stomach for some UT die-hards.)
...
Maybe Strong does win at Texas, instilling toughness and discipline that coaches told me had dissipated under Brown. But the first-blush reactions from many I spoke with Friday night, as the news of the Strong hire began to break, were of skepticism. Some even laughed.
“I can’t believe Texas did this,” one of them said.
No .
I was initially afraid A&M would snag him instead of Sherm.
Or Franklin.
I'd take Strong over either, and I think time will show Patterson made the right choice. Also, this is one of several similar old threads: http://mobile.texags.com/Forums/5/Topics/1992598
A thread from the zoo is what you're going to bring up?
It wasn't part of my argument, I just wanted to share. Franklin was too slimy for UT and Briles is older and hasn't shown he can field a good defense. I'd have been happy with Briles, but I suspect Strong has a higher ceiling; and I say that having — I believe — seen Briles' ceiling.
PerOrangeBloods, CB Kris Boyd will be attending the July 18th summer camp.
Both DTs Daylon Mack and Kingsley KeKe have invites and say they will "think about it."
Ohio State has offered 2016 CB Jared Mayden.
OrangeBloods saying QB Kai Locksley of Baltimore, MD will be in Austin on July 14th.
"I speak to coach Strong frequently, a few days ago was the most recent. He told me I need to come see what Texas is all about before I make a decision and that you're going to have to compete wherever you go in the country for the starting job, so don't let that dictate anything in your decision," Locksley said.
Per Inside Texas, WR John Humphrey will be in Austin for the July 18th summer camp.
They also said QB Zach Gentry, WR John Burt and 2016 QB Malik Henry are "maybes."
OrangeBloods spoke with QB Zach Gentry and he will be in Austin on July 18th.
It is worth noting that Baylor will hold an overnight camp on July 18th as well. 2016 5-star OT and A&M commit Patrick Hudson will most likely be at the Baylor camp, per 24/7.
I would expect most top recruits to be in Austin, but there'll probably be a few guys in Waco that we would have liked to see in Austin.
Also, I didn't see it posted, but saw the rumor earlier. The "Under the Lights" camp on July 18th is not an invite-only camp. Due to NCAA rules, all camps are open to everybody and can't be invite-only.
@WVWilkerson
@TeamKamMartin tells me he'll visit the #Longhorns soon.
Per Inside Texas, Strong is scheduled to have some sort of conference with the parents of WR John Humphrey next week.
I'm guessing Skype.
Both CB Ashton Preston of Edmond, OK and 2016 DT Michael Williams of Forth Worth All Saints tweeted they've been invited to the July 18th camp and will be attending.
