the only weakness of the Reich's squad I see is the speed of their full backs (especially Howedes). Dudes need to stay on their own half pitch like Paulo Ferreira imho, otherwise they'd leave an ocean of vacuum behind them that the opponents can easily exploit.
4 CBs starting in the back speaks for itself. While Loew has one of the best FBs on the planet running circles in the deep midfield
They only have one Lahm, nonetheless. Schmelzer would've been an ideal fit for the LB but he wasn't even selected for the WC squad. Don't know why old Low could hold his job for so long tbh.
Boateng as a hypothetical #2 FB is quality

Schmelzer was still dealing with an injury. He wasn't in good shape prior to training camp. He might have been fit and on form by now, but that's just speculation.
