Hopefully Bonner was gonna be gone anyways.
This has nothing to do with Mills and we need to keep him.
Hopefully Diaw becomes a starter (with Splitter backing up Duncan) and Anderson becomes Diaw's backup and eventually replace Diaw in a few years
Is bonner gone for sure now?
Are you okay with letting mills walk now that we have a "point/fwd?"
Diaw?

Both mills and diaw will be back
Little premature, don't you think? Guy hasn't even played a minute in the nba, no one is expendable at this point (except maybe bonner).
Ayres too
RC said Kyle isn't a player that would be a project in Europe.. Him and Cojo will probably be in Austin for most of the season. Maybe he'll get a run if Pop decides to rest Manu for awhile
Only Bonner should leave. Mills and Diaw need to stay
Bonner's $$ should be going to Mills and Diaw. I'm not a Bonner hater but his contract is up and lets just say he was paid well for what he delivered.
The only guy it makes expendable is Daye, who was already expendable. If someone else were as consistent as Bonner from the arc, then he would be expendable. That said, no reason to pay Bonner much more than the minimum.
OP projecting his ing into unlikely scenarios.
would people want booner for the min over channing frye
Anderson might replace Diaw in 2-3 yrs....he seems like a role player for the future who will get little time next year. Smart move if he works hard for a couple years getting over himself and shoring up his massive weaknesses.
Why do people keep bringing up Bonner as expendable when he was way more important than Beli in the POs... He started WCF games when Splitter was covering up in the foetal position ffs...
The one who is expendable for sure is Beli who is clearly a negative impact type of player...
, Channing would make four Spurs expendable, including Anderson.
There isn't anything in Europe that he could learn that would improve his game, he is Austin bound this season
Ayres is still expendable given the depth of the team. Thought that Baynes showed enough in the playoffs during his limited minutes to get the nod going forward.
Bonner is much more expendable in the eyes of this board than he's actual value to the team. Without question he's a vet min. so I agree there and if the Spurs were ever forced to consider anything but the minimum that would be the only discussion worth having. But the idea that a role player with 3 point accuracy who knows Pops system would be worth less than an unproven late 1st rounder is quite the stretch. Rarely do newcomers break the rotation especially over guys who with a proven track record within the system.
Not that I endorse Bonner over Anderson but considering how much value this team places on guys who fill their niche role it makes little sense.
Main thing that would help Jeff is being ready for passes. Second year is almost always better so we'll see. Pretty much everyone not in the rotation can be replaced fairly easily for what they did with the exception of Bonner -- and Bonner should be very cheap this time around if he stays.
I honestly think Bonner is done, takes a job with the front office as a possible GM later down the line. Jeff needs to work on his timing, he's usually out of position or jumps to early for rebounds. Catching passes is something that he will have to improve on, maybe pop will let him hit that jumper a little more this year.
I believe Bonner is expendable because his value is in spacing the floor and Diaw does it better
Throlden threads are becoming a plague.
Diaw does lots of things better than Bonner, but he can't do them for 48 minutes per game.
So, for the minimum, are there better options than Bonner for the role that he filled this season? There are only a few spots at the end of the roster to be filled. I think there's a good chance that Bonner fills one of them.
Too expensive for the Spurs
We only needed that spacing when Ibaka was on the floor, not for 48 minutes, but I understand what you are saying. Bonner is valuable if he stays for minimum, I just believe that he's expendable if we want the open roster spot. When Diaw is not in the game, we can get the same effect going small ball.
Belinelli will take a step forward too.
There's 15 spots. Plenty of room.
So is this what we are looking at right now?
PG- parker, mills, cojo
SG- green, manu, bellineli
SF- leonard, daye
PF- diaw, anderson, ayers
C - duncan, splitter, baynes
