Probably none (just keeping the band together), but if I had to pick one, I'd go with Marion as he fits in perfectly and can tutor Kawhi (and maybe Anderson or even Daye).
Paul Pierce
Pau Gasol
Vince Carter
Shawn Marion
Emeka Okafor
Poll above.. you know the rules
Probably none (just keeping the band together), but if I had to pick one, I'd go with Marion as he fits in perfectly and can tutor Kawhi (and maybe Anderson or even Daye).
I like Marion as a fourth big and backing up Kawhi in certain matchups.
If we lose somebody in the off-season that obviously changes the equation; if we don't, I'm more interested in not harming our championship squad than in upgrading it. Gasol might be a nice sponge to soak up some of Timmy's minutes, but I'd say probably go with Marion. Smart player, good D, stretches the floor, won't cause any trouble.
Yes, we're at a point where I can look at a list of All Stars and say "nah, not worth the risk." It's a good feeling.
Pau or Marion would be nice
I originally saw Marion walking to Miami, but LeBron ed that up by opting out. Now Miami has no MLE since they're under the cap.
Miami's best case scenario is to bring the same team back + Napier and find players for the miniumum.
Maybe James really is leaving.
Would have been better if you had associated a price tag with each player.
...hand down, man down?
i think they still have the MLE. they still hold his rights iirc and his cap hold puts them over the cap
Okafor or Gasol.
Ron Artest just to beat the out of anyone trying to start with a Spurs player.
I want a legit backup for Kawhi, so I'mma say Vince. I dunno if Pierce can defend well anymore (didn't watch Brooklyn this season except for his game-winner at Toronto), but we saw that Vince still got something left with his good shooting. Hopefully, Vince can be a better defender here if we can pick him up for the vet minimum. But, I think he said he wants to return to Dallas, so maybe we can get Pierce instead.
Paul Pierce on the Spurs could take us over the hump of reapiting! Paul Pierce on the Spurs will be gold!
I'd personally prefer Pierce over Carter, but you really can't go wrong with either playing for the vet min.
True, but Pierce would want more than the Vet min and Carter already said he wanted to go back to the Mavs. I like Pierce because his passing and he's proven he can play PF for stints at a time, but I wouldn't mind the Spurs signing either on a two year deal to help the Spurs repeat next year.
Spurs don't have time to develop another player at this point and a clutch vet like Pierce would give Spurs a even bigger edge in the playoffs.
My preference would be Gasol followed by Pierce then Carter. All long shots.
Should have included an option for none of the above
Yes, I voted Marion, and am glad he's getting a lot of support. In addition to what's being said, he might also be just a little more reasonably expected to be obtained. Pau is going to be too rich for us.
I agree. The only knock I have on Pierce is his defense. Carter would probably get on my nerves when he starts shooting those erratic 3's he likes to take sometimes though.
I don't think the Spurs have enough minutes to attract any of these guys.
how someone can prefer loser Carter over Pierce?
will be enough minutes for Pierce as a stretch 4 and Kawhi backup!
