"Athleticism Doesn't Matter" has now become

"Every Top 50 All-Time Player Lacked Athleticism. BBIQ For The Win."

Also, not having a 42" vertical is not the same thing as being unathletic.

You guys are jumping the shark.

People tend to confuse athleticism with jumping ability. Tim Duncan could never jumped out of the gym but he had some of the best lateral quickness and hand eye coordination of any big man that has ever played the game. So if a big man is coming into the league that can really jump but has lousy hand eye coordination is he a great athlete? Tim Duncan's skill set was so amazing and so complete from day one. The man was a very rare player.

Not sure the point in bringing back this thread.
Why? Because Anderson is considered to be slow?

I think it's just that Duncan has been old for so long now that people forget what an athlete he once was. He did have pretty awesome hops pre knee surgery and when he came back from that he still dominated the league and won 2 straight mvps with strong smart play, great athleticism and he could still jump very well. Very athletic, very mobile big man.

IMO Tim deliberately altered his game and stopped jumping high in around 2005 when he kept spraining his ankles coming down on peoples feet after a jump. Since all the sprained ankles, he decided to ground his game a little bit to save his knees and stop all the ankle sprains. I don't think at the time it was lost athleticism, he just knew there was less chance of more ankle sprains If he stopped jumpin. When was his last ankle sprain? I cant remember but they used to be frequent but I can't remember any since he deliberately stopped jumpin so his method worked wonders. He has moulded his game to his age and what his body tells him it can do better then any player I can remember. That's why he's still one of the best and healthiest big men in the NBA at 38 years old. The Great Man.

Young Duncan wasn't Amare Stoudemire or anything but he wasn't no slouch. It's like some of y'all didn't start watching the Spurs until 2005

Duncan is in very rarefied air when it comes to basketball IQ. Michael Jordan Larry Bird Magic Johnson type of rarefied air.

Picking Duncan at #1 was even more obvious then picking LeBron.
