I have to say, I'm getting impatient. It seems like management has zero clue with zero plans for this coming season. Randle is a solid pick but after him, we basically have ZERO talent going forward. We have cap space but I fear we're going to end up spending this on our own free agents and overpay them (Hill, Swaggy, Henry, heck maybe even Gasol).
Never mind the fact our coaching situation is still in limbo. In my 18 years as a Laker fan, the past 2 years to me has been the most difficult and with Kobe taking a huge piece of that pie at age 35, I'm really losing any hope that we'll even be a playoff team for the next 2 years.
Monroe, Bledsoe, Rondo, Melo? The grass ain't too green in this offseason, but I'm begging Mitch and Jim to somehow miraculously pull a Gasol type of heist soon. Restore Laker Pride for crying out loud.
End Rant
Dr. Buss is a tough act to follow & with the new CBA punishing teams for spending money, it is not likely that the Lakers will land big name talent…On the bright side Fredo is not stupid & he has been groomed to take over operations for years…
I do not have an answer for Chaz the bartender & Kobe's ridiculous contract…![]()
The worst thing the Lakers could do was overpay those players. This is a time based wait in which you'll realize if management has matured.
That's it, and that's all.
I can live with management failing to close deals due to cap restrictions but I just have this feeling these key FA are steering away from the Lakers. If number crunchers like Nick Young and Henry are all were going to get then, this is disturbing.
It's been disturbing. There is nothing out there that is reasonably available to us. What is out there is pure junk. It's going to do no good to sign this junk, you're going to be just as miserable upon delivery and example. You want the nightmare to be over, to just end. That is not possible.
Lakers dropped the ball big time when they agreed to offer Kobe an early retirement package. They could've been serious players in this offseason with more than $50 million in cap space. Rebuilding would be easy and they could put the pressure on Kobe to either leave for more money, or stay with the franchise and continue to be a part of a winning culture.
No sense in compounding our problems. Let someone else buy it.
All that misery on 10 million dollars. Gee.
You have to admit from a rebuilding standpoint, it is a damning move. The franchise is bigger than any of its player, but current Lakers owner was cursed with a tunnel vision.
I was ridiculing you, S&H. Instead of having 50M we have 40M under your scenario. In real time we have what, 30M? There ain't 30M in talent out there that is legitimately available to us.
Possibly but overall, I think there's a huge pysche that affects key free agents in signing with the Lakers. Kobe's contract is a strong message that the unwritten franchise rule is to still live and die with their weary superstar, something not a lot of players are not willing to follow. But I do see your point.
It's really beautiful what's happing to the lakers. I was always told it would be my spurs gasping for air.
But here we are in 2014, the summer of FIVE.
With the spurs having a chance at SIX.
tell me I ain't dreaming?![]()
As long as the Lakers have the 6th pick in the draft next year, I'm happy.
I don't even want Melo at max. He may do us a favor. Sign and trade Pau for a 1st rounder and tank one more season . I would even rather sign Love than anyone realistically available LeBron is staying so save the cap space.
That's Spur's Fan talk, Stamps. I won't dally with you when you're like this.
The Laker organization has become one gigantic TOSB,,,,tbh. No big free agents coming their way anytime soon. No LeBron, no Melo, no Love, no Durant,,,,
Count me in.
