Spurs haven't had any formal meeting with Pau unlike OKC I believe so that's an issue.

Have to imagine no state tax in TX has to be considered as well. Think between OKC/SA, it will mostly come down to who he wants to play with and who he wants to play for.
Not to mention SA can compensate him in a year or two after TD retires.

In that regard, it would seem that the Spurs are a better fit for Pau, but the difference in money would not be insignificant. We'll know soon enough. I still think it's all smoke and he wants to stay in LA and get paid.

Of course they can. Gasol goes to the second unit with Diaw and takes Splitter's minutes when he's playing like a pussy.
In the regular season it works fine but in the playoffs it doesn't work so well.

Plus the international connection would do him some good in a family environment, that LA scene is toxic. But we've all seen this movie before

Does Gasol still consider himself a #2, or is he willing to sacrifice his mins. to win a ring?

Think Spurs would start him and start fielding offers for Splitter if Gasol's production on both ends starts exceeding expectations.

This is all hypothetical though. I'd say less than 15% chance he signs with Spurs.

A good mix of winning and money huh? Well scratch the Lakers and Knicks off that list then...

It's pretty obvious if it's winning and money, MIA/CHI are the best fits. Will be a key piece, make the most money & play in the East where you are virtually guaranteed an ECF berth if you are there with Lebron.

Nope, he's on the other side of 30 and he's had injury and health issues. No amount of production would make them shop Splitter who's been rather healthy the last 2 seasons.

You would think then that would rule out OKC. Playing with Westbrook would be like playing with Kobe. And pau is trying to get away from Kobe.

Someone should leak a rumor about Jeff Ayres, that Detroit wants him if they can't get Monroe.

The Diaw market doesn't begin until Gasol and Deng have homes.

If the Spurs get Pao they could probably amnesty Ayers.

Pretty cheap amnesty. So cheap the Spurs might even do it.

Can't amnesty anyone signed after 2011.

There are only a few players still eligible for amnesty left in the league and pretty soon even those deals will expire. Boozer and Perkins are really the only realistic ones left.

Although it usually leads to nothing, this is one of my favorite times on ST. Not only is there excitement that is usually unfounded, but people talk basketball on a consistent basis, people learn & it leads to good conversations about the NBA in general.
