$12 mil a year? Hopefully Doc can talk him down to a reasonable price like he did with Hawes

More mind games from the 3 Kings. They are all staying. This "drama" is all scripted. The haters are getting their hopes up for nothing, tbh.
    damn you in serious denial...

    a) there's literally no point in playing mind games... all it is doing is discouraging free agents that were supposed to "retool" your team from signing since they have no clue what the team will look like. those free agents are slowly signing away with other teams in the meantime during these "mind games"

    b) at this point your best-case scenario is to roll with what is basically last year's roster, only with an even older Wade, just to get crushed in the finals again after you blow your load beating up on the Hornets and Nets in the playoffs

pretty much..I don't know why people think any of them are actually going to leave, tbh, this is all nonsense and media hype..

None of them, including Lebron, have even set up a meeting with another team..

That ugly-ass geek Woj is the best breaking news reporter, but his Heat coverage has been pretty terrible in the 3 Kings era, he's extremely biased and sensitive regarding Miami and Lebron..
what's the purpose of "playing mind games" when all the free agents that are supposed to improve their team this year are avoiding the Heat due to the uncertainty around the big 3? fact is, nobody would come to miami if the big 3 weren't intact... so waiting around is just making their sales pitch harder, and FA's don't want to wait too long before the market dries up. a guy like Spencer Hawes for example, would have been a helpful acquisition

Pat Riley pitched today how Miami was a good fit for Luol Deng. But Deng can't commit unless/until he knows how much money Wade/Bosh will take. Sides will talk again next week.

Hard to get guys to take a discount on THE CHANCE LeBron re-signs with the Heat. This is getting more complicated by the day. Really the best thing is the re-sign the big three at the lowest possible price and then go after the free agents. The back asswards approach is not going to cut. it.

The Heat are melting down, they can't understand why neither Gasol nor Deng will take their chump change.

I wouldn't mind the Suns giving Bosh the max, if it means breaking up the big 3 and getting a shot at LeBron. They can afford 2 max contracts.

Two max contracts for Bosh+James would be $44.2 million. Phoenix has $35 million in capspace.

Yes, but they can clear the rest easily without gutting their roster, as has been reported extensively.

How do you clear $9 million more without salary dumping Dragic and one of Greene/Morris twins? Len, 2 of Green/Morris/Morris, and Plumlee isn't a supporting cast that's going to draw them out of Miami.

Here's how the AZ Republic reported the initial plan:

The Suns would need to renounce rights to unrestricted free agent Channing Frye (he has a $9.6 million cap hold) and trade away other salaries (possibly Alex Len's rookie contract, expiring contracts for Marcus Morris and Gerald Green or first-round pick Tyler Ennis, who has Toronto's interest)
Under that scenario, they would still have Dragic, Plumlee, Markieff, Goodwin, rookies, plus they would then go above the cap to resign restricted free agents Eric Bledsoe and PJ Tucker.

Phoenix is actually in a pretty ing great salary cap situation: Bledsoe unrenounced will only count $6.6M against their cap figure, as he is Full Bird coming off his fourth year rookie contract, so the cap hold is 250% of his 2013-14 salary.

That leaves the Suns with about $28.5 million to spend and then they can go over the cap to sign Bledsoe after, assuming Sarver isn't too ing cheap. I'm actually kind of shocked they can't pull Anthony, because Bledsoe and whatever they can get trading high for Dragic plus having young players with really good chemistry murders anything New York can put together.

Anthony doesn't care about signing with a good team. I mean he's gonna sign with the Knicks so that's pretty obvious

The only way they are going to get Luol Deng is from a combination of the big 3 taking a paycut and the Heat FO picking up the rest of the tab. I don't see the Heat FO footing the whole bill and paying the luxury tax penalties for the next 3 years. None of these top free agents are going to sign on the cheap to MAYBE when a championship.

I don't think they can go over the cap even to resign their own players. I mean I'm sure someone would have mentioned that by now if they could. I don't really understand the salary cap that well so maybe they can

My understanding is Suns only wanted Anthony if they got James also. They didn't want Anthony by himself.

Completely impossible. I don't know where Coro is getting this idea, but Beasley still counts against your cap figure since you amnestied Childress and can't amnesty him too. If Phoenix salary dumps everyone but Dragic and Bledsoe their cap situation looks like:

    1. Dragic $7.5M
    2. Hold for Bledsoe $6.6M
    3. Beasley contract $2.3M
    4. Cap hold for empty roster spots under 12 = 10 * $0.47M = $4.7M

So that gives $21.1 million. Subtract that from $63.2 million and you get $42.1 million. Since James and Bosh have more than 10 years in the league, their max is 35% of the cap, or $22.1 million. So you're short $2.1 million even after renouncing everyone but Bledsoe and trading everyone but he and Dragic for nothing.
