but after those nigs have career ending injuries, neither will be able to hold a gun very well tbh
Plus the bullets would just get lodged in Melo's fat rolls....

How does it feel that the Clippers are going to go back to their typical role of being the Lakers doormat?

    Please, please happen.
    YES, fantastic, make it happen!
They won't get anywhere with those two ball hogs.
And go ahead and lose Gasol while you're at it.

But now it's being reported that Phoenix is in serious contention for both Melo and James together.

I think Carmelo and "his people" are blowing smoke, maybe to extort the Bulls into a better offer. Why go to Knicks West (who are a much worse team at this point) rather than stay with the actual Knicks and earn 30 million more?

And if Melo seriously wants to contend, as he stated, going to Lakers makes zero sense. They have a ty roster, no coach, and the West is a gauntlet of great teams. In the East, all he has to worry about are the Heat, who will be considerably weaker next season.

Don't get your hopes, Lakers fans. Probably isn't happening.

Everybody take a deep breath. It appears that latest news that the Lakers were very much in the game now with NY and Chicago was a calculated leak to Bill Simmons by Melo's agent.

    Of course.

Trying to get Chicago to offer more than 17 million per year.

If Melo believes Bryant is going to play anywhere near his 12-13 level, and Pau can be brought back (his preference should LA be compe ive) Melo has to believe there's the making of a run in LA. The three of them plus Randle are a 50-win squad. Kelly and Sacre (assuming some improvement) are respectable as 8th or 9th in a rotation.

The gap for LA is really starting PG and a quality 6th man. Jaret Jack or Vasquez could be targets at guard, though getting them intrade squeezes the space for Pauand creates some trickiy timing issues. Best case for 6th man is Pierce which is also tricky with both BRK and LAC/Doc in pursuit; maybe Young on the room exception.
You have to "learn" how to win in this league. There are exceptions like Kobe, Duncan and Magic, but mostly the top stars don't start winning les until later in their careers after they've been through years of losing. LeBron, Dirk, MJ, Boston's big 3, Hakeem. Think about that.

What are Melo's options? Go to Houston with two losers who will likely never win a le? Who knows how to win on that team? Go to Chicago with a psychologically broken player that stayed on the bench in a suit despite being perfectly healthy? Stay in New York and run the risk of never playing with another star?

To me, his best options of winning are Kobe and Dirk. Kobe knows how to win, Dirk knows how to win. Both of these guys are closers, and that's what you need come playoff time. Melo's been in the league for over 10 years, he's been in the playoffs every year except 1, he's been to the WCF. At this point, I think he knows what he needs on his team to win. It's not clowns like Dwight, or no defense, shrivel up in the clutch guys like Harden. It's not a guy that's going to leave his team high and dry in the playoffs when he's perfectly healthy, or one that gets completely shut down by compe ion in the biggest moments. He needs winners, guys who have been there and done that, knows what it takes, knows what needs to be done.

Kobe and Dirk are winners, and Kobe is by far the biggest winner of the bunch. It should be a no brainer decision.

Carmelo+Kobe+Gasol still make Lakers third best team in Pacific, 5/6 best in the West. And that's is everyone stays healthy.
This guy is a moron. Sorry but a healthy kobe and Melo alone is enough to be a top 6 seed in the West much less add in Gasol and Randle
That core is the best team in the west. If healthy.
Healthy Kobe + Melo is easily the deadliest one-two punch in the league. It'd be like old MJ and Pippen but better. Add a MOTIVATED Gasol and a hungry Randle to that and we'd be beasts.

Just reading their hopes and dreams so I'm ready to laugh at their depression when Melo doesn't sign.

All the Lakers FO knows how to do is go after names. They actually should've been going after Hawes, the best stretch big available. Stretch 4s/5s are a vital piece nowadays. Gasol (if he stays) and Randle won't generate much floor spacing.

They're also thinking about their post-Kobe financial situation. Melo will be a nice merchandising revenue stream when Kobe hangs 'em up. I could see the s loving Melo.

So if this turns out to be a leverage ploy (which I'm 99% certain it is), what do we name this latest Lakers mishap?

Lakers Org more worried about selling tickets then winning Championships it seems. Business is business. Throwing two more years away in the process lol. Kobe took 2 years away from the Lakers and now Melo gonna take another 2 lol.
