Melo is returning with the Knicks at max. This Laker rumor is just smoke and mirrors,,,,Phil and Melo throwing Kobe and Jeanie a solid. ESPN reporting now Lakers have passed Bulls as it being Melo top destination behind Knicks,,,,I told that Rocket fan on the last page,,,he doesn't want the Bulls.

All the Lakers FO knows how to do is go after names. They actually should've been going after Hawes, the best stretch big available. Stretch 4s/5s are a vital piece nowadays. Gasol (if he stays) and Randle won't generate much floor spacing.

They're also thinking about their post-Kobe financial situation. Melo will be a nice merchandising revenue stream when Kobe hangs 'em up. I could see the s loving Melo.

Lakers Org more worried about selling tickets then winning Championships it seems. Business is business. Throwing two more years away in the process lol. Kobe took 2 years away from the Lakers and now Melo gonna take another 2 lol.
People said the same thing about only being interested in selling tickets from 2006-2008 (pre gasol trade). We are talking about a family in crisis, their father died and they have no clue how to run the franchise without him. The real brains of the operation is Mitch and thus far he hasnt been able to work his magic because Jim has made many mistakes by firing everyone behind the scenes.

I think its natural to go belly up after so many championships in 10 years...seriously they won 5 out of 10 years and went to the finals 7 times. However, I think its going to take some hard learned lessons by Fredo to finally shape things up.

You guys dont get it, we have nothing here in LA to be happy about outside of the Lakers...only fat s care about the dodgers and very few people actually seriously watch the Kings. Laker fans are going to give Jim Buss 2 more seasons before they turn their backs. They already said the Lakers fell over 50% in ratings, I only assume they made a profit this year over the entire BS story line about Kobe coming back.

The media should at least think about what they sell before they put it out there. Carmelo is really going to take that big of a discount to go and play on a team worse than the Knicks? He wants the money, and the Bulls. Phil won't cave and he'll probably end up either walking to the Bulls at the discount anyway or re-signing with the Knicks.

What in the has happened to this world when a team and storied franchise like the Lakers---WE'RE TALKING THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS----is getting played and used like a ? My God this universe is upside down. Hard to believe the league, TV networks and NIKE is allowing this.

I think Carmelo and "his people" are blowing smoke, maybe to extort the Bulls into a better offer. Why go to Knicks West (who are a much worse team at this point) rather than stay with the actual Knicks and earn 30 million more?

And if Melo seriously wants to contend, as he stated, going to Lakers makes zero sense. They have a ty roster, no coach, and the West is a gauntlet of great teams. In the East, all he has to worry about are the Heat, who will be considerably weaker next season.

Don't get your hopes, Lakers fans. Probably isn't happening.
Everybody take a deep breath. It appears that latest news that the Lakers were very much in the game now with NY and Chicago was a calculated leak to Bill Simmons by Melo's agent.
    Of course.

Trying to get Chicago to offer more than 17 million per year.
Lakers are being played. Melo is trying to force a SnT to Chicago.
    "Pony up, Chicago."

So if this turns out to be a leverage ploy (which I'm 99% certain it is), what do we name this latest Lakers mishap?

Also, it's funny how right after the Knicks meeting the Knicks were the heavy favorites, now it's the Lakers even though he met with them before the Knicks. Leverage ploy all the way, even the great Woj got played.

Agents always uses the Lakers as leverage. It's a smart business move to get attention.

It's all making sense now btw, so according to this insider, this is why Randle hasn't signed with the Lakers yet and why the Lakers fans may not see Julius play in the summer league?

They aren't the ones who are publicly being used as leverage by every media outlet to get to Chicago. That would be the Lakers. And since when did they ever get used like that? Probably not when Jerry was alive.

I'm from SoCal, and historically, LA has been a baseball town. Dodgers are very worth getting excited over. Kershaw is from another planet.

It happens. The Lakers are the ones dumb enough to not hire a coach yet so they can let Melo pick one. Not even Kobe gets to pick a coach
