Didn't realize asik trade wasn't completed yet.
Spurs can use the MLE to sign a player that is bought out midseason right?
Not sure what the buyout market will be like (was pretty horrendous last year) but they could easily stand pat if the whiff on their FA targets and have space to take on a vet as needed. Might be a smarter move since the health of key players (Mills, Manu) is still an uncertainty going forward.

at Broussard backpedaling on his wild speculation.
Damion James is with Pistons playing summer league, so he is not in Spurs plan...
He is slowly getting to level of SAS.
If not Gasol, then I'd rather not spend the MLE (or full MLE) on anybody. I don't see anybody who will make a bit impact on this team. The roster is loaded. If a good vet wants to backup Kawhi, then great. Otherwise, see what shakes loose as the season goes on.
The Spurs have also expressed an interest in McRoberts.
A few on here like chinook have made astute cases for why he would be a much better fit here than Gasol.
I also like Frye, but not as much as McRoberts.
With Mills down and Ginobili possibly hampered, I feel attention should be paid to the guard corps. Though I may be jumpy.
Beli and Joseph can take the reg season minutes as decent subs. Finding a legit fourth big and backup for Kawhi are still probably bigger needs both in the short and long term imo tbqh.
broussard is only good for his phobic rants...
Interesting... nobody is talking about acquiring .... Andre Blatche
Ginobli will be fine. He will be healed up for the season. with green starting and belli as a back up. we are ok. Manu will still get his 25 minutes a night. the injury is actually a blessing as it will keep him off the national team.
I think Spurs are a long shot to get Bazemore, but it'd be a great pickup imo. OTher teams can offer him more money and PT though so I just don't see it., and with a young player like that, it's about making as much money as you can right now.
Yeah, Baze would be a nice pickup considering he can provide us depth at the 1 & 2 spot with Patty and probably Manu missing a good chunk of the season.
But, no if it means giving him that 6mil/year deal he was rumored to get with ATL.
Kent Bazemore = this year's Jeff Ayres?
I would rather get the guy GSW traded Bazemore for...Steve Blake.
Damn, I was kinda hoping we get McRoberts.
Spot on. And after playing more minutes and producing at the rate he did with the Lakers, means bigger payday for his next potential contract.
Atlanta just recently traded Lou Williams, so they have a need there with the back-up shooting guard slot. Here, he has an opportunity to be a rotation player for a playoff contender.
Boston has a bunch of guards -- Avery Bradley, Marcus Smart, Rajon Rondo, and Phil Pressey -- and the chances of him becoming a rotation player are slim. He can't afford to not build on what he did with the Lakers. Solid minute production equals better pay.
As for the Spurs, their pitch is simple, "we rest guys; guys get injured; Patty is out so you can compete for the back-up point spot with Cory. We are not promising you anything, but you will have opportunities; what you do with them depends on you."
So, Atlanta looks like the best scenario unless Kent really wants to win it all. Right now players are seeing the Spurs move in slow-motion; there's an allure to playing here. Players want to play with the best and we are currently the best.
Not happy about this!
He would match up really well with Boris if we were to see them again in the Finals.
So let me get this straight, Miami's starting lineup this year is potentially:
Shabazz Napier
Dwayne Wade
LeBron James
Josh McRobers
Chris Bosh
Subs ute a Marvin Williams here or a Anthony Morrow there and what do we got? It's hard to imagine LeBron is looking at this and is saying, "wow, I can work with this."
Good, rather him either come to the Spurs, first option, or stay put, second option.
