Link please. All I'm seeing is that they may renounce, but nothing confirmed yet.
They had to renounce Gasol to do all the other deals announced today.

I have one question regarding trade exceptions that I hope that a CBA expert can answer for me. If team A (that I believe has to be over the cap) deals let's say a $5M contract to team B for a draft pick it receives a $5M trade exception which is valid for one year. It can use that trade exception to take on a $5M contract within that year. This sort of makes sense to me. What doesn't make sense to me is why teams just don't do it all the time. Why do salaries ever have to match if you can just get a trade exception instead? So for example if three months later team A would like to take on a $4M contract for a pick why does it have to have a trade exception? Can't it simply do the trade and in this case team C gets a $4M exception? And this could simply go on and on.

A answer would be highly appreciated since this bothers me greatly.

If they renounced him why is Pincus and the others saying he can still be part of a S&T?

Because they can still create cap space by trading Nash to a team with enough space to absorb his contract or a large enough trade exception. They could also waive Nash using the stretch provision of the 2011 CBA. These are unlikely scenarios, but they exist.

Lakers can no longer S&T Pau. They renounced their rights to him today.
You can still S&T a player without Bird rights. You just have to use cap space.

    EDIT: OBVIOUSLY, I WAS LATE.

I think that the only way to get exceptions that big is that the team getting the player has to have the free cap room to absorb the contract, that's what gives the other team the trade exceptions. That's why most large trade exceptions expire in the summer, the original deals were only possible when one team was far enough under the cap to absorb salary.

No way the Lakers just let Pau go to the Spurs for nothing imo. They'd find a way to screw us, even if it meant trading a player they don't want to.

    James just did that.
lol yeah I thought about that like a half an hour after I posted that, but Lebron did go back home. Bosh has no ties to Houston other than it being in Texas, right?

If they were compe ive, I'd agree with you. Considering that they know that they're not competing for a Championship within the next two years, they likely think that the Spurs' window will be close to closing (which I would adamantly disagree with) by then - and I don't think that they care at the moment.

Yep. Dude's from Dallas. He probably grew up hating the Rockets and dreaded going there.

Ahh ok. So basically salaries don't have to match in trades as long as one or both teams have enough space under the cap to absorb the salaries? That would make sense.

What are the chances HOU would take back Nash's contract in a S&T with LA? Sounds like a terrible decision on their part but who knows with Morey.

    Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
Miami engaged with free agents Trevor Ariza and Luol Deng for the job opening at small forward, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Either of those would be good signings for miami, and they would still be compe ive in the East, but without Lebron they're not serious contenders. Cavs and Pacers only, and possibly Chicago depending on FA and Rose's health.

Don't sleep on Washington (especially if they can retain Ariza).

Ah yes, forgot about the Wiz. They're up there as well, but don't see them getting past the Cavs or Pacers for at least another year imo. A lot of that hinges on their ability to retain Ariza, as you stated.

    0. With Parson 15mil and the current Roster, they would be in the Tax. Options have run out for the Bulls and Lakers on a S&T.
