I did not see that coming.
Daryl Morey too.
I did not see that coming.
What'd you want him to do, hold his hand all the way in? He obviously had a verbal contract and Bosh reneged. Nobody saw it coming. Not one person.
Cute Cul. I'm surprised your cutting him slack. I'm sure he had a "verbal" confirmation with Parsons too. He overplays his hand and straight up told Parsons he didn't think he was worth what he said he was, then after being so confident that no team would pay more, he decides to let the market decide by making him a RFA. Its a pattern not just a coincidence. For the record, I don't entirely blame him for Bosh, although he's stupid for thinking Melo/Bosh would come here from past events (I posted this over a week ago). The dude spends his time trying to get into bed with every big name when there are two franchise players. Build a solid supporting cast for s sake. Sign a stretch 4. The Clippers just signed this guy named Spencer Hawes, who would have fit great here. The unforgivable sin though? Dude is on a power high by keeping his puppet Mchale. There is NO...absolutely NO reason Mchale should be coaching this team. He's just a yes man that will do whatever Morey says, DJ will even agree with me on that.
McHale is not your problem. You haven't enough floor talent. You would have had Bosh kept his word and you matched Parsons. Not enough to ring, but, enough to get started in a serious bent.
You can change coaches till the cows come home. Until you fix the roster it will be in futility.
You must not have seen the rocket's execution and discipline this year. Don't tell me you're in that camp of "Coaching doesn't matter" ....
No, I'm not in that camp, but, you're barking up the wrong tree blaming McHale. Your talent is much, much too thin to compete on a playoff level.
are you talking stars or supporting cast?
Coaching matters, I'd much rather have rookie coach Brad Stevens. That said, I would not be surprised if the Rockets failed to land any marquis talent in free agency and got left holding the bag.
Now to add insult to injury:
LAS VEGAS -- The Houston Rockets and their 2014 NBA first round draft pick Clint Capela are in a contract dispute following the team’s failed attempt to lure Chris Bosh from Miami, league sources informed CSNNW.com.
According to one source, for cap space, the Rockets requested that Capela spend another season in France, believing they would land Bosh in free agency. Capela’s representatives were strongly against that idea and that still stands. Friction amongst the two sides is ongoing, sources say.
There’s a $500,000 buyout to free the 6-11 forward from his French team. The Rockets and Capela’s representatives are also wrangling on who and how much each party should pay towards the buyout. Negotiations are currently at a minor impasse but sides are expected to reconvene talks in the next couple of days, we’re told.
Capela, 20, was selected with the team’s 25th overall pick.
Why all the noise about Parsons?
Better off without him, open up some huge cap space.
If its a supporting cast you're talking about in regards to talent "too thin", you can pin that on Morey---like I was saying. He's had the likes of Bosh and Melo so far up his ass that he doesn't value role players.
But, you need some prime talent to go along with Howard and Harden and Parsons. Bosh woulda a fit in there nicely and spread the entire floor out past 23 feet. He would have enriched the entire crew enabling them to reach a higher place.
The Lakers offered $10/2 yrs.
If we developed players like the Spurs, then you'd just wait on year on Parson's and sign him to a MLE contract. Develop Daniels and not swing for the frigging fences every year. That's how we ended up with this Cleveland Steamer!
Afraid you're wrong. Report: Pau Gasol turned down 2-year, $20 million-plus Lakers deal

That's a pretty sweet deal so Chicago it is. Could have been a perfect replacement for Tim next year.
I'll say this one last time and that's it to those rocket "fans" who keep saying Morey deserved this. When you have a chance at potentially acquiring a third all star, you HAVE to take the chance, even if you miss you have to give it a chance. Sometimes you swing and miss. Swinging for the fences has gotten them Harden and Howard for basically McGrady's corpse. You are fooling yourselves if you think they can win with Terrance Jones starting as PF, or Beverley starting as PG. They damn sure aren't winning with Cassipi, Garcia, and whatever else trash they had on the bench. Asik did not want to be here period, not Morey's fault. Offseason isn't over yet, if they don't make any improvements, then you can say whatever.
