    Marion seems washed up though
He had a pretty good series against the Spurs. He quite honestly owned Kawhi defensively for most part of the series, first 4 games. He is just too old to sustain that level of play for 30 + min a night, the reason he faded in the last 3 games of that series. On the Spurs, he will only be seeing 20, if that. He would great matchup for OKC lineup as he could play PF. Marion is one of those combo players Pop covets.

Marvin Williams and Aminu are probably the only remaining realistic options that I wouldn't mind, tbh..

Can't believe you guys are pining for more bigs. We need another guard to come in and score some points and burn regular season minutes with Manu and Mills both recovering.

Loved the gasol pursuit but we need another 2guard.
Manu will be fine. TP will shoulder the load. That is why he taking the summer off to heal up completely. Spurs need another SF, and Marion just happens to be a combo forward.

With everything that has happened in free agency, no contenders in the west have gotten better. Through this point you have to consider the Spurs winners just by resigning their own guys. I'd rank Cleveland first, but the Spurs would rank 2nd at this point. Houston (Miami obvious) has to be one of the big losers as it looks like they lost Lin and Asik only to pick up Ariza. who will compete for a more expensive Parsons and Harden for minutes.

Aside from Chicago, not one serious challenger has gotten better so far. The Cleveland situation is fluid, and even if they get Love it will require time for the team to learn to play together. On top of that, the east's marginal trams, at least on paper, seems to have improved which should enhance the compe ive balance of that ty conference.

That's similar to what everyone said about Boston in 2008.

even after dumping Greg Smith they'd be over 64 million... they have to stop being coy and just amnesty boozer. Between Rose, Boozer, Noah, and Gibson alone they're at 56 mil. even if they gut their entire roster except for those 4, they can't offer Pau more than an MLE-type figure anyway

If they get Love, they're also in the East (that almost automatically gives them a chance), so I think they'd have a shot to get to the finals. Not sure if they can beat the WC team though.

If they were to get Love, do you think they have a shot to get to the finals, or do you think that they still don't even have enough to get to the finals?

Like I said a few posts above, if Pau only signs for MLE money, he's a complete ing idiot to choose Chicago over the Spurs or OKC. Even though I really, really dislike OKC (mainly because of Westbrook and Brooks), but if I was a player, I'd choose them over the Bulls for the MLE any day of the week. I don't like Westbrook's PG play and I'd be weary of him passing the ball and playing a team game, but at least Kevin Durant is a team player.

I have no idea what Gasol is thinking.

But does these small salary dumps allow them to use a sign and trade?

I've been asking for that. Last I heard the Clips had interest, but don't know what came if it.

they could sign and trade anyway, as long as they give back equal salary.

being over the cap only affects a sign-and-trade if the team making the initial signing is over the cap (in which case they can't receive players back, just picks). since the lakers are under the cap (by a hair), this isn't in the way. the problem is the lakers are very close to the cap, so they can't accept much salary back, certainly not boozer
