They still got Marion. Rockets will just be ing themselves if they do and this is what Cuban had planned all along. That's why all the reports state that the Rockets are unsure if they will match. Jazz committed to Hayward the moment he signed with the Hornets.
Guys like Wesley Johnson and Evan Turner are still available at a much cheaper rate.

The Rockets know they will match and they should. Cuban ed himself by offering Parsons that contract instead of going after Ariza, Stephenson and Deng knowing the Rockets taking up 3 days to match and tying up Cubans cap space for 3 days while he lost Carter, could lose Marion and lost on Ariza and Deng.
How's that. Deng, please. Ariza, please, Marion is just as good defensively even at his age.
Funny you mention Stephenson, bc that is the team he is talking to right now. I would much rather have Stephenson and Marion at 15 mil, than Parsons contract and Ariza at 23 mil.
Stephenson has proven he can play 3 positions. Marion is a combo forward. Parson and Ariza just can play SF.
If Morey wanted to Cuban in any way, he would just let Parson walk. But he would be in himself at the sametime. Cuban wins no matter what Morey does.
Lol Marion is a backup at this point. They lost Carter which hurts them.

So getting a very talented player 14 years younger and who can play 3 positions would hurt the Mavs at this point. Tells me all I need to know.

Not really....... every report has stated for the past 24 hours that the Mavs are going hard after Lance if Houston matches. Ariza and Deng both got payed more than Dallas was willing to pay them anyway.
And Houston is no closer to championship status with $23 million tied up in Parsons and Ariza
