So DET still has 10M in cap space after those moves (even with Monroe's cap hold of 5M) and they could have 15M if they renounce Monroe.

I mean, the Augustin deal isn't too bad with how he played last year and it's short. Caron's is way too much, but at least it's effectively one year with the TO in Y2, but still.

If they don't keep Monroe, is Drummond/Smith/Caron/Meeks/Jennings with a bench of Augustin/Bynum/Jerebko/Singler/Pope a playoff team even in the East?
Might be tbh. Don't underestimate how bad the East is. Helps that Van Gundy is coaching; while not an elite coach he's better than most EC coaches.

The Pistons are probably desperate to move Jennings to have space for all their perimeter players. Paging Morey and that TE.

Well, let's say the coaching nets them 10 more wins (which is generous IMO) that puts them in the hunt for an 8th seed. However, it doesn't seem like their team improved with their moves (especially if they don't land anyone else and lose Monroe). We will see. They still have plenty cap space and flexibility.

Who do they have that you think they want to pay to keep and build around?

The biggest one is KCP, but they also have Bynum, Silva, and Singler under contract. So that makes eight notable perimeter players under contract with these new signings. While that's not too many in a bubble, Van Gundy making so many signings implies he's going to make some changes.

question on Parsons, couldn't the Mavs have offered him that offer sheet prior to the 10th since he was a RFA?

Whether you are a RFA or UFA, all free agents are subject to the moratorium. No FA could formally sign anything until 7/10.

but isnt the offer sheet just the agreement then they sign the actual contract on or after the signing date? i was listening to Goeff Sheen on 760 last week saying something about not giving cuban any credit since cuban could have offered this in the prior days.

If Blair can't get what he feels he's worth under Cuban and Carlisle, who is he going to be able to convince to pay him?

E: wait, I take that back. While GMs like Billy King exist, there's always the chance Blair gets the payday he's looking for.
    Guess that answers my question.

    1. Sheen's not exactly an expert.

    2. They agreed on the deal before the end of the moratorium. What difference would it have made if they had reached the agreement on the 6th instead of the 9th?

IIRC, the Spurs were trying to work an S&T of Blair to the Wizards last summer. Didn't work out and he signed with Dallas.

i guess my question is then would it have put more pressure on Houston to make a decision sooner rather than later?

    thanks for the clarity.

No. By the rules, Houston had 72 hours from the time the offer was submitted to make a decision. Dallas submitted the offer at the end of the first day possible, presumably to take the opportunity to see if a trade could be agreed upon.

So Gibson goes to bench in crunch time? Still don't get why Bulls went after him with their current personnel. At 34 he isnt going to be that guy to totally depend on to get scores and defense in crunch time. At least not at the expense of Noah or Gibson on bench.

Thibs left Boozer on the bench in crunch time, he'll do the same with Pau if it gives him the best chance to win.

Kind of glad the Spurs didn't get him if they are able to bring Marion abroad.

Isn't boozer going to be amnestied? Gasol's contract is more than the MLE..
