Its less about the money and more about the roster spot. There is one left and that is likely going to Baynes unless the Spurs move Ayers (unlikely)
Now I'd much rather see Baynes gone. Not happy with another year of Ayers-Bonner-Baynes on the bench rather them add a wing.

He knows the system and Pop doesn't heavily rely on him like he did a couple of seasons ago.
It was an expected signing that will probably lead to an assistant job with the team once he retires.
Even after all the signings, the Spurs are 10M below the tax line. If they need a roster spot to sign a better player, guys like Ayers and Daye can simply be waived.
Yes, but that doesn't seem likely ,imo. Maybe towards the buyout period but as of now I was hoping the Spurs add another player particularly a wing ,like Aminu. Baynes is probably coming back for cheap (I don't see other team making him an offer)
I'm good with the signing. 1 year for the vet minimum was what I was looking for. He's terrible as the 2nd/3rd big but a nice option as the 4th/5th big. Knows the system, great locker room veteran, I like it.
Hes worth it if only for that running shot put floater, its as ugly as sin but he never misses. He also gets us involved in SXSW which ups our cool factor, something we're always in need of.
Na. It's not
Bonner gonna end up being one of the longest tenured Spurs. Guess he'll wait another year to wear blue blazer, dockers, and cole haans to work.
He won't get his jersey retired.

but Bonner is a fan favorite ;-;
Nice signing. The great thing about Matt, whether just or unjust, he carries a league reputation as a knock down shooter, floor spacer. Great to have that corporate knowledge and ability at the end of our bench.
So you just proved it wasn't a problem as he wasn't in the regular playoff rotation.
Glad you figured it out all by yourself.![]()
He's serviceable, gets one opposite big out of the paint, knows the system. Good signing.
Keep em coming Padre![]()
To be fair, Bonner did contribute in the finals. He's earned his one year deal.
I'm glad he's back. Dude earned his money by throwing OKC for a loop during that series. Welcome back Matty!
Glad to see Bonner back on a very team friendly contract...
Say what you want about his limitations as an NBA player, but that guy gives his all on every play...
Yes he does, and Pop loves him for a reason.
I haven't figured out why you named yourself dumpster though
I figured out you're too stupid to be able to read a simple word though.
Don't wanna sound like a hater but it seriously made me cringe every time an announcer would praise his 3 point shooting and then he'd proceed to missing wide open shots left and right.
Glad that the praise is greater than the butthurt this time around. Won't say the same if the Spurs lost back to back Finals![]()
Not really a fan of this dude at all but he did so called spread the floor in game 5 and threw a loop like someone said (Sides not hitting a shot) and for that price I guess it won't hurt at all to have him back. He has a very limited role now and thats a good thing honestly, he plays it and thats it.For that price and that role he plays who could be upset?
