Right now we still don't have legitimate backup for Kawhi for next season in our roster, we missed on Paul Pierce who would have been a dream addition, Austin Day is garbage, SlowMo don't seems an NBA material and even if he is, at best it will take him at least two years to devolp and translate his game to the league and be able to ribute... So what we do with this situation? again wear out Manu or Danny and count on them to fill that role and play out of position? Do we try to find natural SF on the market? So what do you think, who will be our backup 3 at the start of next season?

We probably go with what we've got. If by "wearing them out" you mean playing them 22 min/game while still winning 60 games, I'm cool with having a hole at our backup 3.

    lol Paul Pierce

The Spurs could try for Marion or someone else, but seriously -- Manu and Danny did a fine job at SF if you really need to name that position.

Some of you are bringing too much logic to this topic. Right now, we should be panicking.

    lol

When Kawhi went down we went 8-8 in part because Kawhi is that good and we had 2's playing the 3.
We need an actual small forward backup.

On the defensive side of the ball I think they will use SloMo to guard the SGs/SFs of the league, he is not a lock down one on one defender, but he is a decent team defender.
On the offensive side they will possibly use him to facilitate and create in more of a Point Guard/Point Forward type of role.
But we will see, I have the utmost confidence in Pop to put Kyle Anderson in the best possible position for him, and the team, to succeed.

Yeah he was good the season on the Spurs. Also enjoyed Willie Anderson's first few seasons in David Robinson's early days.

    Shawn Marion.

Good leadership. Quirky shot but it goes in enough. Can play the 4 and can defend anyone from Clay Thompson, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, David Lee, LeMarcus Aldridge, Kenneth Faried, Blake Griffin and many others allowing Kawhi to play focus more on his offensive games (which he needs to do to become the new face of the franchise once TD, TP and Ginobili retire next year).

I don't see TD, Manu, and especially TP retiring next year.

all of their deals are up and TD contemplated doing it this season already.

everyone retires sooner or later...after a repeat championship (which will be even harder to do than this past one), they will walk off into the sunset.

TP may be back but that's all.

Derek Anderson did have a good season in his only season with the Spurs in 2001. I just didn't like how he bolted town for Portland so quickly after the season...

Manu has already said he thinks he could play a couple more years. and TD has said he will retire "when the wheels fall off" and they certainly don't look like they are now.
I only see them retiring after this year if they suffer significant injuries. If not, I think they'll both play two more years after the coming one.

Get off Pierce's . I'm glad Spurs didn't get him. With Anderson, we have more depth there than the last championship team did.
