    You're capped out, Kool.

No more signings aside from minimum salaries. Lakers strategy is to tank hard this season and try to make a splash in free agency in 2015, 16, etc.

We're not capped out...stretch Nash and sign Lance....we can afford to slightly go over the cap...it's not a hard cap

you don't know how the salary cap works. stretching nash gives you 6 mil more in cap space, give or take. lance isn't taking 6 mil. he turned down 9 from indiana

2016 is the year Durant is available that's more realistic than to even be worried about Cap Flexibility for 15....Sign Bynum and Lance and we're set to make a run...the Rockets dropped themselves to 7-8 or seed and will be battling it out with the Lakers..if Kobe comes back to form Lakers will be shooting for the 6th spot

Can't, bro. You have to have Lance's Bird rights to do so.

thats because Pau was YOUR free agent. the official term is "bird rights" but thats essentially what it means. you are always allowed to exceed the cap to resign players when you have their bird rights. its why kobe got his re ed contract even though u were over the cap at the time. you got that because pau had played for your team for 3 seasons

Well, to put it bluntly...... this is probably vengeance on Kobe for running out Shaq, Howard, Gasol with his "compe iveness" which is more similar to being a ing prick than anything else. Every single one of those players were the catalysts for their respective teams before joining the Lakers. Gasol is now a s of his former self, Howard quit after 1 season, and Shaq won another ring without him.

The problem is and always has been Kobe. They are probably going to deny him an opportunity at winning because they are waiting to make a big splash after he retires.

They're always aiming for bigger stars. Time Warner did not agree to a $3.6 billion dollar deal to broadcast Stephenson. This is also the reason why Fredo overpaid to keep Kobe once Dwight left for Houston.

They have three expirings this year worth approximately $27 million and they will go after an All Star next year or hope another disgruntled star asks for a trade. It's pretty obvious they are going to overpay Deandre or Marc and slowly work that roster before they pitch to Durant in 2016.

not true mid..I found someone online who gave me hope....

    Here's his take:

Can the Lakers sign Lance Stephenson?

The simply answer is yes. By promising contracts to Jordan Hill and Nick Young, but not actually signing the deals and making them binding, the Lakers still have about $6.8M in cap space to work with after the Jeremy Lin trade. The Lakers can always go over the luxury tax to re-sign their own players, assuming they don’t renounce their rights, which the Lakers won’t do. Meanwhile, the Lakers can open up another $6M this season by using the stretch provision on Steve Nash.

Let’s assume that the Lakers use the stretch provision on Nash. That means that the Lakers will have about $12M in cap space, before signing Hill and Young. Would Stephenson accept a 2-year deal with the Lakers for $22-24M? Would the Lakers be willing to go over the salary cap and potentially go into the luxury tax for Lance Stephenson?

All I know is that if the Lakers have any interest in salvaging their 2014-2015 season they must consider signing Lance Stephenson. If they’re not interested in competing next season and they’re simply looking to acquire assets for 2015 and 2016 then by all means they should continue doing what they’re doing. Lance Stephenson comes at a cost. But so does losing. It’s your choice Mitch. Time to put your cards on the table.

lakers aren't going into the tax to pick up stephenson... they amnestied MWP last summer just to save pocket money. plus picking up Lance goes against the tank plan. the Lakers only keep their draft pick if its a top 5 pick. otherwise it goes to phoenix.

Does it matter? Lance isn't gonna push them into contender status. They'd be fighting for the 8th seed with Lance.

IF the lakers did pick up Lance (they won't for the reasons in my previous post) for 12 mil a year, they're ed. next summer he and Kobe are gna combine for 37 mil if thats the case. on top of Hill/Young/Randle thats 54 million for those 5 guys... giving you no hope of landing a star next summer, meaning ud have a 3rd straight ty year

Could work, but from what I'm hearing, Mitch wants as much cap flexibility as possible for next season. Stretching Nash and then signing Lance puts another unneeded 15 million cap hit for next year.

It's not worth it for Lance. He isn't a cornerstone player.
