.....Steelers on the road in week one, hmmm?

    Let's look the numbers.

    Cleveland in Pitt

    2013 lost 7-20
    2012 lost 10-24
    2011 lost 3-14
    2010 lost 10-28
    2009 lost 14-27
    2008 lost 0-31
    2007 lost 28-31
    2006 lost 7-27
    2005 lost 21-34
    2004 lost 23-34

    That's 0-10 the last 10 years.

Now first road game of the new season for Cleveland,...1-9.
    Steelers first home game....9-1

Obviously that's just straight up. But it's pretty obvious this is a very bad "spot" for the Browns and a rookie QB. Last season the Steelers went 5-1 vs the number in the division. The Browns 2-4.

You won't find any team dominating another in a particular "spot" like we see here with Cleveland.. AT.. Pitt.

Imagine any rookie QB facing the Steelers in Pittsburgh to start off a career....ouch! Oh yeah, the Steelers are 17-0 vs rookie QB's.

So ya take that game (maybe) and that Jets vs Raiders game (maybe), where the Raiders haven't won in New York in over 10 years, and there's two potential week one plays. Hard to ignore 'spots" that overwelmingly favor one team over another.
Now before somebody says......"what does ancient history have to do with 2014?".....well...

Pitt covered in 2013 and the Jets covered in 2013 beating the Raiders 37-27.

Would ya believe once upon a time the KC Chiefs covered their first game of the season 21 years in a row?

I'm just giving out the numbers. You think it's better to ignore them?

Go ahead give an intelligent/logical reason to back the Cleveland Browns in this "spot". Actually explain a reason to ignore history, go ahead sell me on why the Browns are the play. A rookie QB on the road in week one vs a team that has owned his, now think about that.

So what games are the $$$$$ makers in week one and why?

I'd be surprised if Manziel started right away. I think Hoyer will be the guy early on.

If theyre smart they keep Manzeil on the bench for the first year. Keep those draft picks high. Next year get gordon back, keep buildin the oline, grab a legit RB and go to work.

A team like the Browns where making the playoffs is still a real big deal isn't in a position to draft a QB with the first pick then sit him. Why not get Manzeil in there? They aren't going to win with Hoyer, that's why they drafted Manzeil.

If they are smart they toss Manzeil right into the fire in week one. This is a team going nowhere so why not roll the dice? They did draft a stud back in Terrance West.

Being Johnny Manziel he's never face anything remotely close to a Pittsburgh Steeler defense.

I knew once I told this freak I was done wasting time on his stupidity he'd be following me around , talk about a sad little , there it is. What a total loser.

I'll be ignoring the freak, he's obviously got problems.

Getting back to Manziel. I don't think he's the kind of guy you can sit on bench. I do think he'd pout and become a problem.

You're probably right there is a reason the Browns have been one of the worst franchises in recent memory. For them to do the smart thing......nay!

I just think that Pettine and the Browns want Manziel to earn his spot instead of just handing it to him, and if that meanings paying his dues and riding the bench for the first year then they'll do it. Too many rookies are just flushed out into a starting role and the stage lights are just too big and bright. Giving him a year on the bench will drive away the media horde and let him focus on the game.

We can't put this guy in with just another QB, it's real obvious he is different. I don't think he is one of those who can ride a bench and the Browns should have known this. You draft a Johnny Manziel to run your team, not hang around with that personality. I 'll say it right now if they do plan on sitting Johnny watch what happens.

I study very little pro football, but the game of football is making plays and that guy makes plays.
Actually the game of football is about controlling the line of scrimmage. If the 0 line is dominating and your D is shutting things down, you will win.

Sure, vs NCAA teams. You do realize the lowly Jaguars would whip up on Alabama....right?
