Dude, one of my high school coaches was a huge Ronaldhino fan, and he would frequently show us highlights. His skills really are eye-catching and got me interested in soccer initially.
But isn't he already past his prime now? And he was never considered the best player in the game. I could be wrong, but my impression was that he was sort of a young phenom who never really lived up to expectations.

Poland altered their defense based on promises from UK & France. Regardless no nation on the planet would have held off Germany from the West, Prussia from the North, Slovakia from the South & Soviets from the East.
You could argue the smart move for Native Poles would have been to take Hitler's alliance offer (give up Gdansk) and help defeat the Soviets. But that would have meant the total destruction of the European-Jewish Population. Many current day Jews illustrate their gra ude by questioning why "Poles didn't do more".
The West re-payed Polands ultimate sacrifice: Fighting against Germany & Russia, then fighting against Germany with Russia; by handing them over to the Soviets after the War. Poles that had been imprisoned by the Soviets were released and handed a gun, told to go fight the Nazis.....and they did. Events like the Warsaw Uprising might have been pointless propaganda: 200,000 civilians died and the city was burned down for what? The War was over

Your relatives would've lived in ghettos while Sudeten Germans lived freely in Polish houses and communities

The Bolsheviks were always Hitler's target, there was no "didn't mess up with Stalin". The Nazis were defeated as soon as they failed to persuade Poland to join them. Hitler mistreated Poles because they were arrogant to fight him, while the rest of the World either sat back or directly funded him.
Poland saw through his ruse. You would've helped him fight the Russians and then been quickly relegated to ghettos or exterminated.
The final "asking price" would've been the destruction of Poland and the Polish people.
Sure things (for the most part) are well now as a sovereign state. But it took immense sacrifice and resilience from Poles, which led directly to my family being displaced. But life will come full circle when I move to Berlin (and eventually Poland), funny how that works out. Ultimately Poland had it worse Post WW2 than any of the Axis. So Poland has Gdansk but lost many intelligent native Poles. In 150+ years if borders remain as they are, sure that sacrifice will be viewed in a more positive light. I do take pride in knowing I lived thru the worst times in Polish History and did it proudly. Polska will only improve from here on in.

I post on a Polish site flooded with Brits and they can't comprehend this sacrifice and thus why it's so wrong when Poles marry outside the culture. To Brits it's part of culture evolving, while to Poles it's a spit in the face of those that gave their life so there is Polish being spoken today. That does make Poles stubborn but I think it will end up being a major strength in the next 100 years as demographics sharply change.

The Nazis lost the war when they couldn't finish off Russia during operation Barbarosa. Hitler was too stubborn to admit defeat even if he was losing men by the thousands in the Eastern and Western fronts. It's Hitler's arrogance that led to the Reich's demise, tbh. Poland was nothing more than a laboratory for all those ridiculous Nazi principles. The Nazis carved up Poland like meat from the slaughterhouse then experimented on its people and there was nothing your Uncles and Grandfathers could've done. Consider yourself lucky that Hitler hated Jews more than Commies and Poles, otherwise, your family's genetic line would've been exterminated a long time ago.
