PHOENIX (CBS5) - Burglars broke into a Phoenix business Wednesday and stole a soil density meter containing radioactive material, police said.
Police said they were called to the unnamed business at 4300 South 34th Street, where employees discovered several construction items had been removed.
Officers said they are concerned because if the s of the stolen container is compromised, those nearby could be exploded to radiation, Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said.

yes, exploded to radiation...that's why it seems pretty serious to me.
It's a ground pounder..... activity is usually on the order of a few tens of mCi for the Cs-137 source and probably around 30-40 mCi for the Am-241 source.
Here are some basics. Get educated:

Thanks. I was really just pointing out a couple of things with the post. One...that any mention of radioactive material gets automatic press. And 2...the writer wrote, "exploded" instead of "exposed".
Ya.....definitely a typo with exploded vs exposed.
Any missing radioactive material should get press tbh.
