Byron Scott is by far the best available option if the Lakers' goal is simply to tank and allow Kobe to chase the points records, tbh..in that case, great hire, one of the best moves any team has made during this off-season..

Lakers aren't in a much better position to get a better coach. I'd give Scott a chance to steer back the Lakers to the playoffs and then fire him when the Lakers get enough interest (or can leverage enough interest) from a better coach.
If he flat-out sucks then just fire him then too.
