Tony's ankles, vertebrae, hamstrings, etc. don't own calendars and can't be sated with material things paychecks can purchase. They care not that it is a contract year, actually, they are inanimate objects incapable of care. Even without playing this summer, if we run him into the ground due to Patty (and probably Manu) being unable to absorb point minutes, we are very likely to get what we've gotten the last two years come playoff time: worn ass out Tony Parker. He is too good when he's healthy not to try to get him that way for the playoffs.
I was disappointed how early he came back from rest, last year, and when he did come back, he played far too many minutes with predictable results.
And, of course, there's always random injury not fatigue, age, and use related. Collisions, etc. One of those happen early in the season and it's quite a pickle.
