Good hire for tanking purposes, ty hire if they are trying to build toward the future and plan to include Scott in that process.
Hoiberg would've been my choice. Lakers desperately need some forward thinking, new blood in that organization.
They're not sniffing the playoffs this year and likely next year as well... And Byron Scott is a terrible coach. Bad roster with a bad coach isn't having any playoff aspirations anytime soon. It's actually a downgrade from Pringles and potato head
I feel good about this one. Byron is a solid coach. I was a little bit concerned when they were talking about Dunleavy. Scott is better by a long mile. This should keep us in playoff contention. Just need Randle to beast and Kobe to play like an assassin. If Lin can also replicate his Linsanity days, heck we'll probably reach the 6th seed since Rockets are so ing bad right now LMAO. we just need Stevie to finally be healthy. He's been collecting paycheck for looking GQ in the sidelines, good chance he actually plays this year before he hangs them up. Good vibes. And Ed Davis is a ing Per 36 mins monster, dude is putting up 15, 10 and he's right there with Serge Ibaka in defensive efficiency.
Look at what you posted,,,,Byron Scott should be alright as long as Randle, Kobrick, Lin, Nash, and Davis are beast's,,,,,,LMAO,,,,way to go out on a limb there,,,,
LMAO! As a Suns fan, I love this hire. I'm ecstatic. The guy is profoundly mediocre as a coach, and that's a compliment. Lakers are going nowhere. The death spiral continues.
Good. That way we can have our top 5 pick back. That would actually be fantastic.
You've certainly made quite a mark with Hornacek, Mori.
You let 'em piss in your gd pool not even a year ago. HA!
Since June 15, 2014
Duncan= 1
Kobe= 0
Let us proceed.
Youd give your ass to have him instead of scott. Not that theres much value in it though...
NEW ORLEANS – When Byron Scott was hired in July as the Lakers’ head coach, the tough-as-nails former guard spoke of a defensive renaissance. With the Lakers ranked 29th of 30 teams in defensive efficiency under Mike D’Antoni the season before, Scott promised a team that would be tougher on defense, better conditioned and grittier.
At the very least, one that would be better.
There was precedent for this. Scott molded elite defenses as the coach in New Jersey and later in New Orleans.
But through eight games, the Lakers have not responded to Scott’s message, and at no point was it more evident than Wednesday in New Orleans, where Scott’s Hornets peaked as the league’s No. 7 offense in 2008. The Lakers were defeated 109-102 at the Smoothie King Center, after trailing the now-Pelicans by 23 points and giving up 60 points in the paint.
“They got pretty much everything they wanted in the paint,” a fuming Scott said. “There was no resistance in the paint. It was just terrible. That was probably the worst defense we’ve played, preseason all the way to this particular point.”
It was the Lakers’ seventh loss in eight games to open the season, as they continue to bolster their resume as one of the worst teams in Lakers history.
Scott’s comments offered a frank, blistering evaluation of a team that entered the night with, statistically, the league’s worst defense. Eight games in, the Lakers are allowing 114.4 points per 100 possessions, more than four points more than the next-worst team, Cleveland, which sports a defensive rating of 110.1.
Worse for the Lakers, Scott said he doesn’t know if the defensive problems are fixable.
“Most of the time, the things we want to do they haven’t done,” he said. “I don’t know if it’s because they’re incapable of doing it or not. So we want to at least see if they can do it. If they can’t, then we’ll change.”
Ed Davis is our only paint protector and aside from blocking shots he's pretty useless in the post. Overall the communication is non existent which is what you'll expect from a Kobe led team without Jacksoon keeping the guys in check,
And I do miss D'Antoni. That Lakers team was fun to watch.![]()
I hope Kobe enjoys his sandwich. He brought all of this to himself.
I will be pissed, but not surprised, if the Spurs find a way to lose to this Lakers team tomorrow.
what a bunch of bull . This is what happened the last time he was coaching prior to the lakeshow:
they no longer have Pau (their best player last season who's now playing in chicago) and Swaggy P hasn't come back yet, not all Scott's fault imho.
I think if they just play harder, want it more, and attack the basket but get 3s as well, and rebound, gotta rebound the ball, and someone set a pick for Kobe goddamnit
